Chapter Five

Audrey's P.O.V

Ugh! Another day of school. I got up from my bed and do my every morning routine. I wore a "I'm with stupid" shirt and white knee-length shorts. I put on some unflavored lip gloss before slipping into my white flats. I grabbed my bag as I silently walked out of my room and down the stairs.

I looked at the living room and saw my dad passed out on the couch with empty beer bottles on the floor. I silently thanked God before heading out of the house.

I started walking down the sidewalk when somebody asked me,

"need a ride?"

Audrey's P.O.V

I turned my head to the side just to see Ross Carter in his black suv with a smile on his face. Wait, did he just asked me if I needed a ride?

He doesn't even know me and I just know him by fame. I felt presence behind me but when I turned around no one was there. I looked back at him while pointing myself," uhm, are you talking to me?" I asked, curious. "uhm yeah, I saw you last saturday at the contest and I've noticed that you're walking alone and it seems like it's about to rain so do you need a ride?" he asked, still smiling at me.

I looked up at the sky and boy he is right, the sky is turning gray so I just nodded too quickly as he opens the door for me to get in. I slipped in his back suv as I closed the door beside me. He started driving while I sat quietly, fingers fidgeting with each other. "so...what's your name?" Ross asked with a hint of curiousness soothing out of his words. "Uhm, Audrey Miller." I stated quietly but not to silent enough for him not to hear. "well, hi Audrey" He joked.

I smiled at his lame attempt to make a joke. I started coming out of my shell as he starts to ask me common questions like: Are you from Valley High? How old are you? What your favorite colors and so continue the 20 questions. I started asking him the same and to be honest, he isn't conceited as those magazines and talk shows says.

He's actually pretty cool and down-to-earth for a billionaire. We were near the school parking lot when he asked me something I didn't expect to hear from him. " so do you have a boyfriend or are you single waiting to mingle?" I looked at him surprised but I got to answer his question," uhm I have a boyfriend" I simply stated as my mind floats to Ethan.

" so what's his name?" He asked curiously and for a second, I saw rage crossing his eyes but when I blinked, it was gone. "uhm, Ethan, Ethan Davidson." I answered as we came into a halt. I thanked him as I opened the door. As soon as I stepped out of his suv, he stated,

" he's a lucky guy to have you, you're pretty cool Audrey and I'm sure many guys would kill to have you" he smiled before I closed the door and watch his car drive away from the parking lot.

I was dumbfounded for a moment but I snapped back into reality when i realized that the parking lot is empty. I checked my watch and noticed it was just 7 am. Class starts at 8 so I guess students will start flooding at around 7:15. I walked in through the doors and to my locker to get my

Books before heading to my first class.

Ross P.O.V

I woke up extra early than usual since I want to go to the beach without any girl chasing me like a mad woman who just saw her most priced possession.

I slid in my brand new black suv that I bought a week ago. As I was driving down the block, I noticed that there are two black cars following me so it means Dad got me my bodyguards including Derek. I didn't mind though, they're my friends so it's cool.

As I was about to turn into a corner, I saw a familiar strawberry blonde hair bouncing gracefully at her shoulders as se walks down the street. It was my sweet sweet Audrey! I quickly parked at a curb near her and asked her," need a ride?" she stopped walking and turned her head aside with a blank expression on her face.

She looked behind her then looked back at me," are you talking to me?" she asked, confusion obviously seeping in her words. "uhm yeah, I saw you last saturday at the contest and I've noticed that you're walking alone and it seems like it's about to rain so do you need a ride!" I asked, grinning and mentally hoping that she would accept my offer.

She looks up at the sky for a moment before looking back at me, nodding her head. I silently thanked God begore opening the door for her. She got inside my car and as soon as she closed the passenger's door, I start to drive.

I took a glance at Audrey and saw that she was looking down while her petite fingers starts fidgeting. I want to break the ice so I asked," what's your name?" OBVIOUSLY, I KNOW HER NAME, are you stupid or what Ross? She murmured her name but it was still audible for me to hear.

I wanted to ease the awkwardness between us so I came up with a lame answer," well hi Audrey" that was just lame,I know, you don't need to tell me. She suddenly giggled. She giggled so cutely it made the butterfl--- OKAY I DIDN'T JUST SAID THAT! I AM NOT GAY!!! Anyways, her giggle was so heartwarming, so exciting, well when I mean exciting, it includes Ross jr. Down here.

I started asking basic questions until we reach her school. There was one question popping into my mind every now and then so I decided to ask her so it wouldn't bother me so much. " so do you have a boyfriend or are you single waiting to mingle?" I asked curiously. She took a moment to answer but when she finally did, it set me to the edge.

"uhm I got a boyfriend." she simply stated. I was bottling my jealousy and since I want Audrey, I need to take this asshole off the picture. " so what's his name?" I asked. If I wanted him out of the picture, I need the name, I don't want to kill an innocent man.

"uhm, Ethan, Ethan Davidson." she replied with a smile on her face. I stopped in front of her school and she said thanks before stepping out of the car, but before she get to closed it, I spoke," he's a lucky guy to have you, you're pretty cool Audrey and I'm sure many guys would kill to have you" before she gets to close the door. I drived away but not before taking a look at her surprised face at my sidemirror.

Ethan Davidson, get ready because I play dirty.

When I got home from the beach, I walked up to my room and picked up my guitar and started playing. I didn't noticed that dad walked in my room and sat on my couch until he spoke," son, you're 20 and yet you don't have a bride to take care of you, we're getting old remember that and soon I'd be passing you this company"he warned.

"dad, I found her" I stated, looking up at him. "really? What's her name?" he asked, interested on who caught his son's heart. "Audrey, Audrey Winters"I answered with a smile. "oh? Tell me about her son. Tell me how she caught my son's eye" my dad insisted. "well she's smart,beautiful, funny, caring, open-minded, thoughtful and mostly, she isn''t a gold-digger! She's not like any other girl I've met, dad, she's practically perfect!" I announced proudly.

My dad smiled so it means he approves of her...YES! "she's unique son, now when will I meet this fine young lady?" He asked,half-excited, half-curious. My smile dropped as I looked down on the dark blue carpet,"she's not yet my girlfriend, she has somebody else" I whispered, hurt. "son, if you want her, just show her who we are."My dad stated. "but dad, likeI said, she isn't a gold-digger. She doesn't care who we are!" I dramatically stated.

"well if you want her, don't play fair and square"He stated before standing up, giving me a pat on the back before leaving my room. I guess dad's right. Get ready Audrey,I'm gonna get you.
