Diamond In The Ruff

I see the young girl, lost and alone.

Tears fall down her face like diamonds.

She's at home, but it's different to her.

Her parents are long dead,

as well as any friends she had.

Something still burns inside her though,

Trying to shine like a diamond.

How could she feel this?

After all he'd done.

Her heart beat only for him.

But she wasn't a diamond.

No, she didn't sparkle to him.

She was a rock to him.

She wanted to show him,

Prove to him,

That she was a diamond,

a diamond in the ruff.

I look at the girl,

at the reflection before me.

I wipe the diamond tears away.

No more tears, or being lost.

Starting today I'll uncover myself.

I'll find the diamond

I know I am,

Somewhere deep inside.
