Don't Suffer in Silence

It's been a couple days since the surgery. It's also been a while since Mikey told them the truth. And finally admitting everything feels like weight has been lifted from his shell.

But that doesn't mean it's been all sunshine and rainbows.

Recovery is hard.

No doubt about that.

But this time, Mikey's not suffering in silence.

He's not alone anymore....

Is he?

"Donnie, it hurts." Mikey whimpered, looking at his side which was wrapped in fresh bandages.

"I know little brother, here's some pain medicine." Donnie said sympathetically, handing Mikey a pill and water.

Mikey took it with a grimace. It was awful. "Thanks bro, but when can I move around? I'm dying of boredom!"

Donnie laughed. "Sorry Mikey, but I promise in just a couple days you can at least leave the bed."

Mikey pouted. "But I'm borrred!" He whined. "Please Donnie? Can't I at least go watch tv?" He begged.

Donnie sighed but nodded. "Ok, but let me help you, I don't want you to fall or move too quickly ok? Move slowly."

Mikey nodded and allowed Donnie to help him down to the couch in the lair and turned on the TV.

"There you go Mikey, yell if you need anything else ok?" Donnie said with a smile. He started to walk away when Mikey stopped him.

"Wait...please don't leave, will you stay with me?" Mikey asked shyly. Donnie nodded in slight confusion.

"Of course little brother, are you ok?" Donnie asked, sitting on the couch. Mikey nodded. "Yeah, I...I just don't wanna be alone." He replied.

Donnie agreed to stay and Mikey stuck to him like glue, which was weird. Mikey has never been like this before. He's never been clingy.

After a while of watching TV, Mikey wanted to see Raph so Donnie called him in. "Is he ok?" Raph asked.

"Yeah, he just wanted you, he's feeling kind of clingy for some reason so just so you know." Donnie whispered.

Raph nodded. "Hey little bro, how ya feelin'?" He asked gently. "Ok, I just don't feel like being alone."

Raph understood so they sat together and decided to read comics and play video games, Mikey's favorite thing.

"Hey Mike, I hafta go now, it's time for training, I know you can't train but I'll be back soon, ok?" Raph said.

Mikey's eyes widened in...fear? "No, no Raphie please don't leave me, please, I don't wanna be alone!"

Raph was shocked to say the least. Mikey has never acted like this. Is something wrong? Is something bothering him?

"Hey, hey it's ok otouto, don't get upset, I can see if Master Splinter'll let me stay with ya, ok?"

Mikey sniffled and nodded. Raph called Splinter in. "What is the matter, my sons?" He asked gently.

"Well, I know I have to train now but Mikey doesn't want me to leave." Raph explained, looking down at Mikey.

Mikey's eyes filled with tears. He felt bad for making everyone stay with him. "I-I'm sorry." He whimpered.

Raph pulled him into a hug. "Shhhh, it's ok Mike, we're not mad at ya." Splinter put a paw on Mikey's shoulder.

"My son, is something bothering you? You do not normally act this way." He said kindly. Mikey shrugged.

"I...I don't know, I'm s-sorry I just don't feel like being alone today, I'm sorry for acting like a baby."

"It is alright my son, we can skip training for today as I can see you are in need of some company." Splinter said with a smile.

They were giving up training? For Mikey? The young turtle whimpered. "You don't have to, I'll be ok." He lied.

Splinter shook his head. "Nonsense, I will bring Donatello and Leonardo in, we do not want you feeling sad."

"Sensei?" Leo called, walking in. "Aren't we training today?" He asked. "No, I believe Michealangelo would like some company."

"What's wrong otouto? Does anything hurt?" Leo asked immediately. "I don't wanna be alone, I want you all to stay."

Leo nodded and Splinter explained everything to him and Donnie. "I think something is bothering him." Raph added in worry.

They all sat on the couch around Mikey, who was still looking a bit upset, tears wavering in his eyes.

"Mikey, can you tell us what's wrong? We're worried about you and we want to make sure you're ok." Donnie said calmly.

Mikey sniffled. "I guess...when I didn't talk I was alone, alone in my own thoughts, and I guess I didn't wanna feel alone again."

All the brothers embraced the youngest, murmuring words of comfort."It's ok otouto, you're not alone anymore, we're here."

Mikey sniffled. "I... I didn't like being alone with my thoughts, it was kinda scary...please don't leave me alone."

Raph patted his head gently. "We're sorry baby brother, we didn't know you were still suffering emotionally."

Leo looked into Mikey's watery baby blue eyes. "Don't be scared otouto, we're not ever going to leave you."

Mikey wiped his eyes, looking a little more relaxed. "O-Ok." He said. Donnie smiled. "That's the Mikey we know and love." He said happily.

"My son, we are sorry for not noticing how you felt before, but we are here now." Splinter said kindly.

Mikey smiled a real smile. "Thanks guys, I love you all, will you please stay with me?" He asked shyly.

"Of course otouto, your not suffering in silence anymore."
