Chapter 17: Not A Bad Date

-Bex p.o.v.-

I don't think, for as long as I could remember, butterflies ever made my stomach flutter. I don't think I had ever, truly, been nervous. But why would I? I didn't have anything to fear, nothing to worry about. At least before.

Before, when I didn't know I loved Sirius. Before, when I wasn't, to an extent, using Sam. Before, when I didn't have an actual date to go on. Before when no boy had ever taken a true interest in me.

After all, I wasn't prepared for this. I wasn't ready to face the music. I wasn't ready to do this. I didn't think I could do it. Actually do it.

And before I was prepared, sooner than I had wished, there was a knock on the door.

The house elves had been given the night off, a muggle boy couldn't see anything magical, so the house had been muggle proofed. After a moment of hesitation, it was too late.

Andrew and Sebastian came racing down the stairs, crashing through the corridors, and bursting through the doors. Slightly out of breath, Sebastian pulled open the door.

"Who are you?" They demanded in synchronisation. The color drained from my face as I sat on the couch in absolute horror.

"I- uh I'm Sam. Who are you?" He glanced between the two, then behind his shoulder, "I um, I think I might have the wrong house. My apologies, do you know where a Bex Dumbledore lives?"

Andrew smirked, "it seems that you unfortunately are at the right house. Too bad for you."

I could almost hear the gears click in Sam's mind. His eyes light up and he smiled, "you two must be her brothers! Andrew and Sebastian, right? Nice to meet you."

"Well, Sam, it's actually not so nice to meet us. You see," Andrew started before I leapt off the couch and pushed them away from the door.

"I'm really sorry about them, they uh, they can be a bit of a hand full sometimes." I interrupted, smiling at Sam. The two boys frowned, leaving us alone in the doorway.

"It's alright," he grinned, the dimple on his cheek visible. "I understand completely." His statement made me think of how he had a little sister and I wondered if he'd ever act like Andrew and Sebastian.

Maybe he'd be worse, because she's actually the brother of his sister. Or maybe not as bad because he's just her brother, not her guardians. It made me contemplate the reason that Andrew and Sebastian acted this way over me. Did they really love me that much? Did they consider me their sister?

"Ready to go?" Sam eventually asked. I smiled and nodded.

"Wait one moment," Andrew spoke from behind us, I looked back as he made his way to us, holding Sebastian in kitten form, in his arms.

Sam smiled softly, reaching out to pet Sebastian, I almost told him no, and when Sam made contact with his fur, Sebastian bit him. In that moment, I really wished I had warned him. Sam frowned, retracting his hand.

"Now Sam, mate, if you even think of hurting my sister, I'll have to hunt you down and rip out your throat." He smirked, looking almost evil. "Have a good date!" And then he turned and left.

I watched after him, jaw dropped, had what I just saw, did that really happen? Was that real? Or was it some sick, twisted dream.

Sam looked as surprised as I did. "He doesn't really mean that," I tried, but Sam just chuckled.

"Remind me never to get on his bad side." He put his hand on my shoulder and began to lead the way out of my house entrance. He glanced over his shoulder as we went.
