"I shouldn't have let you go!" Kaldur paced the length of his room as I laid on his bed.

"I'm your guard and I didn't even think to truly question you on your ability to fight so soon after having your energy drained!"

I sighed and stood up before pushing him against the wall. "Do you really think... do you really think that I would have stayed here?"

He stared down at me, lifting a hand to brush a piece of hair out of my face.

"No, but at least by attempting I could say I did my job and you insisted on coming."

"Percy, Kaldur, Batman- oh...um...am I interrupting something?" Megan hovered in the doorway.

"Nah, he just paces when he's upset." I released Kaldur before walking over to her. "What does Bats want?"

"I don't really know, he just told me to come get you."

As she flew away, I ran a hand through my hair. "Come on, better not keep him waiting."

Kaldur nodded and the two of us walked out to where Bats was waiting.

"Which of you can sing?" He didn't waste a second.

I raised an eyebrow. "Didn't Robin tell you? He asked me, Kaldur, and KF the other day."

Batman narrowed his eyes at his sidekick, who shrugged.

"It was an innocent enough question to ask."

"Not when you just ask it out of nowhere." Rolling my eyes, I slung an arm up on Kaldur's shoulder.

"It doesn't matter. What does is I need to know how skilled you each are with singing."

I frowned. If he makes us sing...

"I already set up a karaoke machine on the computer. Pick a song." Batman walked over and sat on a lawn chair.

Schist.

"Why are you making us do this?" I questioned. "Need someone to perform at a club or something?"

To my surprise, he nodded. "There have been reports of singers being attacked after leaving a club operated by the Queen family. Green Arrow has been trying to apprehend the culprit but isn't having any luck."

"So the next logical step is to put children in the line of danger. If this isn't my family in a nutshell I don't know what is."

Kaldur elbowed me before speaking. "I assume you want one of the female members to take on this role?"

At the confirming nod I groaned.

"I'll go first!" Megan flew forward before selecting a song.

I didn't really pay attention. This is going to be bad.

I can't help my voice...no matter how much I wish I could.

Kaldur grabbed my hand and glanced at me, my face no doubt static.

"Percy?"

"It will be me. I know it will."

"You will be safe. Keeping you out of harm's way is my job. You know I do my best to do it."

Megan finished her song, smiling with pure happiness.

"Was that any good?" She looked at us.

I nodded, giving her a thumbs up.

"My turn." Artemis walked up and selected a song.
