CHAPTER IX

“Hello Ms. Gomez” I froze up as the stranger suddenly taps me on my shoulder. Why does he know my name? And why did Alice suddenly become so cautious? I looked back to meet him. He has tantalizing eyes that’ll pull you in and I didn't realize that I was staring at him for that long.

"Elliot's the name. You wanna dance, sexy?" he winked.

He called me sexy. I giggled but I declined. I’m very much sober as of now – I only drank two glasses of cosmo.

“Umm, maybe later?” I told him as not to be rude.

“Sure, a lady like you is worth the wait.”  He said in a husky tone and handed me a cup of gotcha aftershock. I was going to accept the drink when Alice snatched the cup from Elliot’s hand.

“Hey, I told you no tequila drinks yet, right?” Alice lectured me then she turn to face Elliot. “And you, Elliot. You aren’t trying to woo her? Are you? Besides, I didn’t fully agree on Angela’s idiotic plan, so shoo!”

“You know what, I don’t give a damn. I’ll have my way you’ll see." He hissed at Alice. "And see you later sexy.” He winked at me and with that Elliot joined the gang on their drinking fest.

I didn’t get what in the world just happened between those two but I’m curious as hell. “Alice, I’m a big girl now. I can handle my liquor so if you could just give me that gotcha cup on your hand, it'd be great.” I lied, I’m quite weak against tequila.

“I’ll go get you a new one or –” she said while examining the cup on her right hand. “– you can take mine. Here.” She handed me over her drink.

“Why? What’s wrong with that gotcha cup?” I inquired.

“It’s from Elliot that’s why. Who knows what kind of b-bomb he put in it. Just stay clear from him okay?” I looked at her curiously. She gave a long sigh, a sign of defeat. I know that she knows that I'll never let this go and keep asking her anyway so she continued. “Angela’s plan was to get you and Elliot to hook up. Apparently, Angela owes him. She told me her plan but I didn’t give my full consent.” She paused and looked around to see if someone might be eavesdropping.

“In all honesty, Elliot’s really a nice guy–hell of a gentleman I must say, but that’s only when he’s sober which doesn't happen very often. He can be a real jerk when he’s intoxicated with alcohol, like a completely different person, and he has a habit of taking dopes, b-bombs or meth whenever he goes to a party.” She gave me a pleading look. I understand that she’s just looking out for me, I know how to take care of myself but right now all I care was to find a way to escape reality even just for a while. “Don’t get too wasted, alright?”

“Yes, ma’am!” then I gave her a salute. I down my gotcha in one swig; it’s only half-full anyway. Alice chuckled at this.

“C’mon let’s go over to the party peeps and get ourselves a drink!” She pulled me over to where the crowd of students are playing a game of Beirut.

… …

Hours has gone by and I don’t know how many cups I’ve had. I’ve gone dancing twice, first was with Alice, Kristen, Erin, Jodee and Arya. The next one was with some random dude that I didn’t bother to know whatever his name was, until Kristen pulled me away.
