Harry:

And he doesn’t know what to do, how to make it better. He’s unsure of how to soothe you, when he’s miles away. He starts singing, knowing that it usually soothes you. It’s a song you don’t remember, one that you forgot the lyrics to. His voice flows from his lips and down the line, filling your ears with the soft notes, making you forget the pain that you had felt as you focus on his voice.

Liam:

And he’s worried about you. He wants to know why you’re crying, what happened. He wants to know what’s wrong, but he can’t understand what you’re trying to tell him as you sob into the speaker. He wants to know what he can do to make it better, what he can do to make it all go away. He wants to know how to make it okay.

Zayn:

And it makes him sad, too. Your sobs echo down the line, filling his ears. He can imagine the pain in your eyes, the pain you had tried so hard to mask behind fake smiles. He can imagine the way your heart’s twisting, the agonizing feeling deep in your chest. He can imagine the pain you feel, because he can feel it too. And it makes him sad, because he knows that you’re hurting, and it pains him to hear you cry.

Louis:

And it makes him anxious. He wants nothing more than to catch a plane that instant and come back home, so he can help, so he can make it better, but he knows that he can’t just do that, and that is what makes him nervous – the fact that he can’t do anything, the fact that he knows he won’t be able to for a long time.

Niall:

And it makes him frustrated – mad, even. He wants to be able to hold you, to feel you safe in his arms. He wants to tell you that it’s okay and that he’ll make it better, but he knows he can’t. He can’t, because he’s miles away, and that makes him annoyed. It frustrates him that he can’t even hold you, because that’s all he wants to do. He can’t even see your face, and it makes him even madder, because he can’t do anything, and he knows that. He knows that he’s miles away, and that he can’t do a single thing to make it okay.
