"Hello?"

My eyes widened suddenly at the male voice. Oh my god, he has a mic! What do I do? Do I say hello? Oh Jesus I wasn't actually prepared for this. Closing my eyes, I tried to calm my intensely beating heart. I leaned over towards my screen, breathing evenly.

"U-Uh, hey," I said softly.

"Oh cool! I've been looking for someone with a mic!"

A small smile made its way to my face. "Yeah, same here."

I saw a triangular tick on my screen, hovering above an avatar wearing default clothes. His level showed that he obviously wasn't a noob like me.

Username: Twisted_Kills

Level: 18

Skill: 1858

Main Asset: Killer

"You're that default avatar, right?" He asked, breaking me out of my trance. He walked over, and I felt a little embarrassed.

"Ahah, yeah," I responded, awkwardly smiling, "I just found this game randomly, so this is my first round."

"Nice!" He said, almost enthusiastic about it. "I'll try to guide you as best as I can if you need it."

"O-Oh, thank you." After a moment of silence, I heard a small chuckle on the other side. I adjusted my headphones, and turned to look at his avatar. "What's so funny??"

"I'm sorry," he apologized between laughter, "I just read your username."

I scoffed, a smile on my face. "You know, your username isn't any better." He laughed once again. "You could say that your username.. is twisted."

"Oh my god, you did not just make a pun out of my username!" He exclaimed, trying to hold in his laughter.

My heart warmed up at the sound of his laughter. No one.. ever enjoyed my presence before. I couldn't help but touch my heart a little, feeling it beat quickly. Somehow, I feel that we were going to get along just find.

There was the sound of a clock ticking, and the guy became alert. "Ah, that's the 30-second mark of when the game will begin. They should've given you a role."

I looked at the corner of my screen, a flicker of a smile on my face, and said, "I'm Admin." I couldn't help but laugh a little. "How lucky of me to be Admin for the first round."

The guy laughed as well. "That'll give us an advantage here then. I got Killer. That's my main asset, so I'm more skilled in it. We have a chance of winning this first round." His avatar turned to look at mine, and I could sense the smile on his face. "Well then, Miss Massacre, aren't you quite the lucky charm?"

My heart thumped loudly at the joking nickname. "Pfft, I wish," I replied, smiling slightly. "Concentrate on the game tactics, Sir Twisted. Luck won't get us through everything." He laughed at the nickname given back to him.

The screen flickered, and both he and I were spawned onto a volcano-like structure. A small window appeared, and the four other roles were displayed. I chose to have the abilities of a Killer and a Healer. A map was in the top left, so I clicked on it. Key symbols dotted the terrain as I remembered the advantages of being an Admin.

"Uh, looks like there's a key inside the volcano we're at right now," I said, scanning the map.

"Great. Anyone near us? If we kill em, we get skill points."

Blue ticks showed the players, and I noticed a pair heading towards us. "Yep. There's a duo coming. They might be coming for the key." My mouse hovered over to the ticks as my partner began building down the volcano's side with the materials given to all the players. "It's two Hunters. We should be able to kill them off easily."

"Got it." I turned to see the stairs finished with him at the bottom of the steps, activating the wave emote in my direction. "Come on, Miss Massacre. Let's get those kills!"

Sensing the excitement in his voice, I laughed a little. "You really are twisted for some kills." I jumped down the stairs, running towards him. "What weapon do you have?"

"Acidic shotgun."

"Same here."

The guy pulled out the shotgun from his inventory. "They should be able to outpace the bow and arrows then. How close is the duo?"

I pulled out my own weapon, looking at the map. "Fifteen more meters. Give it five seconds and they'll come out from behind the bushes."

"Alright."

As soon as the duo uncovered themselves, he and I emerged from our hiding spots and began shooting them furiously. I was able to shoot one down by spamming my keyboard, taking only a bit of damage. I didn't think that their weapons would take out some considerable damage from us. My partner finished off his teammate, and the two avatars disappeared. Over my head, "+7 Skill!" appeared.

"Over here, over here," I said, coaxing him over, "I chose Healer as my other option, so let's patch up."

"For your first round, you're pretty good at such violent games already," he commented as I crouched, healing him. The green numbers continued adding up as the bar over his avatar filled up. "Your username fits you perfectly."

"Let's just say I have some practice because of real life," I replied shortly, healing myself next. "Let's get that key quickly so we can advance and I can kick out a team."

"Your word, Miss Massacre."
