Chapter 15: The Mountain Climber

Quote of the Day: "Happy moments, praise God. Difficult moments, seek God. Quiet moments, worship God. Painful moments, thank God. Every moment, thank God."

The Mountain Climber

There was once a mountain climber who aspired to climb a mountain. But this mountain that he wished to climb wasn't just any mountain. He wanted to climb the biggest, tallest, most difficult mountain in the world. One day, he finally decided that he would conquer this dream. He saddled up his equipment, pulled on his gloves and set out to achieve his goal. When he reached the mountain, he wasted no time and began to climb.

Gradually, he climbed closer and closer to the top. The mountain climber was so excited, he could almost taste his victory. Just one more stretch. Suddenly, he lost his footing and began to fall. Down and down he fell, tumbling as he did so. Gripped with fear, the mountain climber'ds hand darted out and grabbed a nearby branch. To his surprise, the branch held and broke his fall.

He was alive, he was safe, he was stuck.

The mountain climber began to cry for help when suddenly he heard a voice. Do you believe in me? The mountain climber began to cry, "All my life, I have been foolish. Ya Allah, please forgive me, for I do, I truly do believe in you!"

Then let go. The mountain climber was suddenly confused. "Let go? Ya, Allah, if I let go, then I shall surely fall and die!"

If you believe in me, you will let go. The mountain climber shook his head stubbornly, "If you let go, I shall surely die, I refuse to let go, I simply refuse." And so, he held on with all his might.

When the rescue team finally came to the mountain climber's aid, they found him frozen alive. As they began to get him down, one of the officers shook his head disapprovingly, "If only he'd let go, the man was only a foot from the ground."
