Elegy to the Cousin of Choice

I would like to dedicate to my recently deceased cousin whom I would always share an insurmountable level of respect and affection, he went away so quickly and may his soul rest in peace. God is Merciful and he is among those who are blessed now.

No more pain, no more sorrow and he can be free to be himself.

He meant nothing at first,

Fumes of cigarettes choking me

Slowly in death, he whips further

Envisioned departure of an early soul

You and I are none of difference

He walks casually inhaled by the seconds

Scrawny hands made way to veins of fortitude

Eyes closed in slumber of eternity

Members weep of his early departure

Thoughts are shared in absolute care

His death, eminent by the dirty bed of sorrow

Flocks of mourners surround his vessel

Sadness is a blessing for them and him

 His brilliance gone, raped away

He’s a changed boy, a man of shame

Into oblivion of despair spiraling down

Submerged himself by wealth and indifference

A puppet of pride and humiliation

Solemn voices once told him

Yet none was listened at bay

He strived as a son with grief

Loneliest of hearts he trudged in mud

He called upon his fragile soul, unanswered

Tests scrutinized him bolder and raw

Until he’s on his knees, begging for less

Life ended on his own accord

Forever missed, like your own sibling at heart

He cried in darkness now

Doomed for endless guilt and peace

His flesh slips away in a cycle of loss
