I was born on the day the war ended.
They called it "the last day", a term that couldn't be closer to the truth. For, once the sun set, my people were defeated and forced to flee and hide into the darkest spots of a planet that was once ours.
I was born in the darkness of a cave; lived amongst many people who had never seen the light.
But I never stopped dreaming, never lost faith.
I knew hope was coming, I could see it rising. I knew that dawn was breaking and the light was brightening. It was only a matter of time now and the sun would shine. Then my people would step out and their skins would finally meet the sunlight.
