I Don't Know Who to Trust

The rest of the school day was uneventful; If you can call "every tiny touch between Dominic and I sending me into the most ridiculous stupor of feelings" uneventful.
When the final bell rang I couldn't help but sigh with relief. At least I would have a chance to clear my head in my truck on my drive home before I went and yelled at my parents and demanded an explanation.
I grabbed my bag and walked with Nora out of the classroom, she turned to the right and smiled "I have to go get something out of my locker, you'll be alright by yourself right?"
I nodded "Yeah, I'm going to drop off my books and head home."
She smiled "I'm sure Dominic will find you before you leave, and I'll come over to your house with Cassidy later so we can head over to the party."
I nodded and sighed inwardly, I was still sort of dreading this party that I was supposed to be going to, as well as being the honorary guest of, tonight. "Thanks, Nora,"
She nodded and walked off towards her locker, leaving me blissfully alone for the first time since I'd gotten out of my truck this morning. I took my time walking back to my locker and putting up the books I didn't need, then I made my way out to the parking lot, ignoring the blatant stares from the other students as I walked to my truck, once I got there I had to dig my keys out from where they'd fallen to the bottom of my bag. When I finally got them out and lifted my head I saw Dominic coming straight towards me with a strange look on his face, I opened my mouth to tell him off for kissing me earlier. But I never got the words out, in an instant he was in front of me,  caging me in with his arms on either side of me, pinning me against the side of my truck with his body, and crushing his mouth to mine. The taste of him was cinnamon and something I couldn't think well enough to identify. I wanted to push him away from me, yell at him for invading my space and forcing himself on me, but every part of me, especially the wolf part was practically purring at the feel of him. The only clear thought in my head was "Kiss him"
I dropped my bag and keys on the ground and wrapped my arms around him, diving into his kiss like I was jumping off a cliff, not caring what was at the bottom.
He pressed his body to mine, the way he stood over me was possessive and so was the way he kissed me. Not to be outdone I stood up on my tiptoes and changed the angle of the kiss, fisting my hands in the back of his jacket. He surprised me with a breathy moan that sent my brain even further into a stupor.
And then it was over as fast as it had begun, he pulled away and dropped his arms. He would have stepped away except for the fact that I refused to let go of the back of his jacket.
"I'm sorry Fallon, something came over me...I was just coming to talk to you, but then I could smell the lust coming from some of the other guys, and I just..."
I sighed "It's alright, I just wish we could figure this out."
He raised an eyebrow, "We?"
I couldn't help but laugh a bit, "You think you're the only one who is feeling illogically possessive and overwhelmingly aroused..." I blushed when I realized that I'd just admitted I was aroused by him.
He glanced around us, at the other students who seemed to be attempting to stare holes into the two of us. "You wanna get out of here? maybe if we're by ourselves we can figure this out."
I sighed heavily and finally let go of the back of his jacket, "Part of me, probably the part of me that seems to have zero control around you, wants to say yes.  But I think if we go somewhere alone together right now, talking isn't what's going to happen."
He reached up and brushed back a strand of my hair "Yeah, you're right I think, let's just put some space between us for now and clear our heads. I'll still see you tonight won't I?"
"That's right, the party," I thought for a moment, "Yes, I'll come."
He smiled and took my hand in both of his and brought it to his lips quickly before bending down and picking up my bag and keys. He handed them to me and gave me a mischievous smile. "Will you do me a favor?"
I raised my eyebrow as I turned to open the drivers' side door, "Maybe, depends on what you want."
He laid his hand on my lower back and leaned in close to me so he could whisper in my ear, "Wear your hair up tonight when you come to the party? I have every intention of kissing your neck, and I'm hoping you'll make it easy for me."
I tossed my bag into the passenger seat and pulled myself into the drivers' seat, "You're confident aren't you?"
He shrugged a shoulder and smiled at me, "Maybe I am, maybe I'm just hopeful, either way, will you?"
I started my truck and pulled the door closed, but I rolled the window down and smiled at him "Maybe, you'll just have to wait and see."
He chuckled and stepped back as I pulled out of my parking spot and drove off.
It was only a few minute's drives to get back home, which was nowhere near long enough for me to work out any of the new feelings from the day. Not the lusty feelings for Dominic, or the betrayal I felt from my former packmates, and certainly not the anger that I was harboring for my parents. So when I pulled into the driveway and parked my beat-up old truck next to my Mothers shiny new BMW the irritation came bubbling up to the front and center of my mind.
I cut the engine and shoved open the door, leaving my bookbag on the seat as I slammed the door shut and marched into the house. I'd been hoping that both of my parents would be home so that I could yell at both of them at the same time, but apparently, I was going to have to yell twice.
I shoved open the front door and was greeted with the sound of my Mother talking loudly to someone on the phone in her office. My Mother was a Lawyer and was always bringing her work home or letting it interfere with personal stuff.
I tuned out her conversation for a minute as I kicked off my shoes by the front door and went into the kitchen to grab a soda out of the fridge. I knew she wouldn't have a clue I was home, the wolf gene had been passed on to me from my Dad, my Mom was just a human who knew about us, and as such wouldn't have caught my scent coming in. And there was no doubt that she was to preoccupied with her phone conversation to have heard my noisy old truck pull in the drive.
Once I finished my soda and had thoroughly worked my anger up, I marched into her office and slammed my hands down flat on her desk. She jumped and looked up at me for a second before saying "Sarah I'm going to need to call you back..." then hanging up and setting her phone down. "Fallon, dear what's the matter?"
I raised my eyebrows "Don't even try that, I had no warning about what I was walking into this morning! what if they hadn't been so forgiving about me fighting him?"
My mother jumped to her feet, "What?! You fought him?"
I straightened and crossed my arms over my chest "Fought him and won, of course, don't worry I didn't hurt him that badly. As if starting at a new school, in a new town, as a senior wasn't hard enough, now supposedly my parents have been plotting behind my back and have pretty much sold me off to the highest bidder."
She held up her hands in a gesture of surrender, "hold on Fallon, sweetie, I'm on your side here, I fought your Father at every turn of this but all he could say was it was your responsibility."
I frowned and turned away from her so I could think, my Dad and I had always been close, and the thought that he was the one who had pushed for this didn't make sense.
My Mother came around her desk and touched my elbow "Fallon, I love you, I know that we haven't always seen eye to eye, but in this, I'm on your side. Do you think I want my daughter mated with some strange boy?"
I dropped my arms and studied her face for a moment, "Honestly, I'm not sure Mom." I turned away and walked upstairs to my bedroom.
Once I was safely shut in my bedroom I stripped out of my school clothes and put on something that was more my style. I'd dressed down in a simple pair of jeans for my first day so as not to stick out any more than I had to. But now I slipped into a floor-length skirt and a peasant-style off-the-shoulder blouse, then I laced on my favorite underbust corset. My Mom hated the clothes I wore, she constantly chided me that they were impractical, which just made me enjoy wearing them even more. Once I was finished changing I sat on the edge of my bed and started brushing my hair, that's when I heard a little knock on my bedroom door and when I looked up I saw my little brother standing with his head poking around the door.
"Fallon? Are you okay?"
I sighed and set my hairbrush down, gesturing for him to come in, "Yes Charlie, I'm fine"
He pushed my door open the rest of the way and came into my room then climbed onto my bed next to me. Charlie was ten years younger than me and my favorite person in the whole world.
"I heard you and Mom yelling at each other again, what happened?"
I pulled him close to me, "Nothing, everything is alright, you know Mom and me just like yelling at each other." I ruffled his hair gently and smiled "I met lots of people today, how about you?"
He nodded and took off his glasses "Yes, they were all older and bigger than me as usual, but there was another boy who was nice to me."
I smiled and took his glasses from him and cleaned them on the fabric of my skirt before giving them back to him, "That's good, you'll make lots of friends in no time."
He put his glasses back on and hugged me, "Are you going out again?"
I nodded "Yes I am, I'm going to a party with a bunch of other wolves my age."
He stood up on my bed "will there be cake?"
I laughed and shook my head "I don't think it is that kind of party Charlie."
He jumped up and down on my bed, "Can I brush your hair?"
I gave him my hairbrush and let him go to town with it, it had been one of his favorite things to do since he was very little, although now that he was a little older he had gotten better at it; I no longer had to go behind him and de-tangle my hair. "When Dad dropped you off did he say when he was going to come home?"
"No, he just said that I had to take the bus home." he set my brush down on the bed, "Okay, all brushed!"
I chuckled and stood up, "Thank you very much, now I'd better finish getting ready, and you better run along and get started on your homework like I know you want to."
He giggled and jumped off my bed "love you, Fallon," he ran out of the room, pulling the door closed behind him.
Once I was alone I stepped in front of my mirror and studied myself, my green eyes looked tired and the way my strawberry blonde hair hung around my face made me look much younger. I'd never really thought of myself as a great beauty, of course, my mother said if I took the time to apply a little makeup now and then my opinion might change. Thinking about her sent my mind reeling in a dozen different directions, could she have been the one who stood up for me? Especially when my Dad and I had always been so close.
When I heard another car pull into the driveway I shook my head to clear it before crossing my room and looking out the window. The vehicle that was now parked behind my truck was a beat-up Jeep that looked older than my truck was, so I was a little surprised to see Nora and Cassidy step out of it and head towards my front door.
I turned back to my mirror and threw my hair up in a half-hazard way that somehow managed to look nice, and was just finishing when I heard footsteps coming up the stairs and a knock on my door.
"Fallon, it's Nora and Cassidy, can we come in?"
I stepped to the door and pulled it open "Hey guys, I'm just about ready."
Cassidy instantly turned on the bubbling as she walked in my room and around me "Hey Fallon, your little Brother let us in the house, and oh wow, you look so pretty! And so different from this morning! Doesn't she Nora?"
Nora only laughed and leaned against the doorframe "Yes very different, but this suits you much better Fallon."
I smiled and sat on the edge of my bed so I could put on my shoes "thank you, I figured since this is supposed to be a party I could dress a bit more like myself."
Nora nodded to me but was busy watching Cassidy wander around my room and exclaim about every little thing.
"Gosh, you have lots of boxes still to unpack don't you? And oh is that a trunk? What's in there?"
I pulled on my shoes and chuckled "we've only lived here for five days, I haven't had the chance to get to everything unpacked yet. And I keep extra blankets in that trunk." I stood and brushed my hands over my skirt, then looked up at Nora with a smile, "what do you think?"
She nodded her head "You look perfect, and Dominic will love it."
I wanted to tell her that I didn't care what Dominic thought, but as I glanced in the mirror at the hair I'd pinned up I decided that probably wasn't entirely true. "Come on, let's get out of here before my Mom comes up asking questions." Nora stepped out of the doorway and grabbed Cassidy by the hand "Come on Cass, you can ask her more questions at the party."
I laughed a little as I led them out of my room and down the stairs, as we walked past my Mom's office I called to her, "I'm going out Mom, don't expect me home for dinner."
I didn't wait for a reply, just kept walking right out the front door and then over to my truck.
"Just follow us there alright?"
I nodded to Nora as I watched her drag Cassidy to her Jeep and push her playfully towards the passenger side. Once they were both in the vehicle I climbed into the driver's seat of my truck and grabbed the keys off of the dashboard where I'd thrown them when I'd gotten home.
