Chapter 13:

"Are you sure this is your place?"

Shayne smiled as he set his briefcase down on the table, "Yeah, I'm pretty sure."

His apartment had to be the nicest one I have ever seen. EVER.

The downstairs had a glass chandelier in the dining room, a spacious kitchen with an island in the center with stools, a well-decorated living room, and a huge balcony with a view of the nearby park. The upstairs had a computer room, and a master bedroom and bathroom. It was so well decorated for a guy. Not to mention everything was spotless.

"Well?"

I turned around to face Shayne with a smile, "I'm impressed. But how exactly can you afford all this on a teacher's salary?"

He shrugged, "I'm also in the mafia."

My eyes got so big it probably looked like I saw a ghost. He immediately began to crack up.

"You should have saw your face!" He laughed.

"You jerk." I said pushing him away with my hands, "What's the real reason?"

He wrapped his arms around me and stared into my eyes, "Remember when we went to Jim's Diner and you fought at that fighting ring even though I told you not to?"

"Yes."

"Well as Nick has told you I used to go there...a lot. I always entered the competitions they had there and there would always be a cash prize. A few of my girlfriends I actually meet at the ring-"

I frowned.

"-Long story short I won every competition I was in and that is how I have come to live in this beautiful apartment."

All I could think to say was 'cool'.

"Are you hungry?" He asked.

"Starving." And as if my stomach was listening to our conversation, it growled.

His eyes glanced down to my belly, "Well I better hurry then."

While Shayne was searching the fridge for ingredients I pulled out my phone and dialed Lindsay's number. She answered after a few rings.

"Well hello Taylor."

"Hi Lindsay. Do you think you could cover for me?"

"What am I covering for exactly?" She asked curiously.

"Well my parents are out of town and I'm staying over at Shayne's. Just in case they come home early and call you or something can you say I'm at your place?"

"You're spending the weekend over at hottie Wilson's?!"

I rolled my eyes, "Yes. And please never call him that again."

"No promises sister. But I can promise that I got your back."

"Thanks a ton Lindsay."

"No problem. Have fun tonight, if you know what I mean."

I could almost she her smug face as she said it.

"Good bye Lindsay."

"Bye." She laughed.
