Chapter 2

We had walked two blocks away from the party before I realized I had no idea where we were headed.

“Where are we going again?” I asked.

Shayne’s eyes locked on mine and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Probably over here, a little over there, you know.” He answered vaguely.

“That didn’t answer my question.”

“It wasn’t suppose to princess.” He smirked.

At this point I wanted nothing more than to smack that sly look off his face.

“What did I tell you about calling me that?” I confidently stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and faced him.

Shayne rolled his eyes, “That you loved it and thought I was adorable for thinking it up?”

I laughed as he gave a cheesy grin. Suddenly he poked my shoulder.

“You’re it!” He shouted as he ran in the direction of the hotel.

I stood bewildered for a moment. Were we really going to play tag? My question was confirmed when he continued to run, never looking back. I began to chase after him dodging pedestrians with every step. Boy was I glad I wore boots tonight instead of heels. My legs slowed down on the block of the hotel realizing I had lost sight of him. Just my luck.

One second I was walking towards the parking garage and the next I was yanked into a dark alley way. My heart began to race and the thick smell of trash and debris quickened my breaths. I felt a pair of hands move to my shoulders and their face come closer to mine. I could barely make out the outline of the person which was most likely a guy. He had a strong build from what I could tell, and he was breathing hard as well.

“You would have never caught me running that slow.”

I sighed in relief that was quickly replaced by anger, “Shayne! You scared the crap out of me!”

He couldn’t hold in his laughter any longer as we walked back into the light.

“You scared me to death.” I growled.

“I bet!” He said between laughs, “I could feel you trembling!”

I remained silent as I headed back towards Lindsay’s car. To my dismay Shayne followed close behind me, giggling every so often.

“Don’t you have somewhere to be?” I asked as rudely as possible.

“”Yes, but I couldn’t leave you alone with all these vicious predators walking around. You know, besides me.”

Even I had to laugh at that one. Shayne continues to stare at me as a smile played on his lips.

“What? Got another smart-ass comment you’d like to make?” I joked.

“Nah.” He mumbled and looked at his shoes, “I was just going to say you look really pretty.”

That was the last thing I was expected to come out of his mouth.

“Was that a compliment?” I grinned.

“I think it was.” He grinned back.

I didn’t expect what happened next either. Without warning, Shayne leaned in and pushed his lips against mine. After a moment I pushed back and bit his lower lip playfully, making his lips form into a smile.

Loud laughter echoed through the garage forcing Shayne and I to pull away.

“Stop it Nicky!” Lindsay giggled.

“Only if you give me a kiss goodbye!” Nick said.

Lindsay slowly reached up and gave Nick a light peck on the cheek.

“Now sorry but I really have to go.” Lindsay smiled, “Come on Taylor.”

I turned to Shayne who smirked. He reached for my hand and scribbled something on it with a pen.

“Call me princess.” He winked.

I opened my mouth to argue against my newly found nickname but decided not to. In a way, I kind of liked it.

I know, i know. it's on the short side. i'll make the next one longer. pinky swear!(;
