My dearest friend,
I apologize
for the late reply.
I seemed to have lost
all sense of time,
Without you by my side.

Time went slow,
as a sloth on the move,
steady,careless, at ease.

Time goes fast,
as a buzzing bee,
busy, moving rapidly.

Do you remember the grass,
we once laid upon,
discussing our childhood dreams?
The cool soft breeze of the midday winds,
scents of surrounding trees?
Bright yellow sun with hints of red,
as we played with trucks in the sand.
Running into the cool ocean waves,
You stopped to grab my hand.

Colourful leaves upon the floor,
Pilled up for us in a lump.
standing side by side you say to me,
"On the count of three we jump!"

Winter blues called for coffee runs,
As I mended your broken heart.
All the boys that have ever hurt you,
Never deserved you from the start.

We watched one another say our vows,
both to the men we love.
We both had children,
boys and girls
wonderful gifts from above.

My dearest friend,
I apologize for the late reply.
Little did I know,
that you would be,
the first of us to die.

Now alone I make a coffee run,
No it wasn't the same...
My dearest friend I await the day,
I may see you again.
