"You need a name."

Shikimaru was 8 years old. They had known each other for about 7 months now. They still weren't all touchy feely and that bff stuff, but they could talk normally.

Shikimaru wouldn't admit it, but he somewhat enjoyed her company.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"You need a name. I can't keep calling you 'girl' and 'she'. I need to call you something. It's a drag to learn, but it would be less of a drag than calling you girl forever."

She thought about it. "You tell me!"

"Tell you what?"

"My name, stupid! You name me. I don't really know what regular names are, and aren't you supposed to be named by someone else anyway?"

Shikimaru groaned. "That's too troublesome... but I guess I can. You're ok with anything?"

"As long as it's not stupid."

"Hmm.... Akemi."

Confusion over took her features.

"Akemi? What does that mean?"

Shikimaru closed his eyes.

"Does it really matter, Akemi?"

It's nice to hear my name said...

"No. Not at all."

It was nice, once he actually said it. It rings in Akemi's ears. It's lovely, in her opinion.

"Akemi... I love it."

"What did you say?"

"Oh, it's not important!"

If Akemi didn't think it was important than he had no right to push it, Shikimaru thought.

Plus, it would be a drag to ask again.

"Hey Shikimaru?"

"Yeah Akemi?"

"Why do you come back every day? Isn't it troublesome?"

Shikimaru looks thoughtful.

"I guess I just enjoy being here."

"So you'll return?"

"Yeah, I guess so. I come here everyday, why stop that?"

Akemi smiles. "Promise? You'll visit everyday?"

"Sure, I promise."
