Don't see me, don't say hi
Forget who I am, I don't know why
Ignore my presence like I don't exist
For I am 'backstage', no more than this
Is it not me who made the set?
Who hasn't been allowed to shine yet?
Is it not I who starts the show?
Who waits for you to be ready to go?
But because I'm backstage you don't hear me speak
Yes, I am backstage. But does that make me weak?
Ignore my presence like I don't exist
For I am backstage and no more than this
To those editors, producers, and assistants who yern
Keep on waiting for your special turn
To those in the front give others a chance
To gather bravery and take a stand
To those in front, don't forget the back
Those are the ones who pick up your slack
To those in the back, you will see
That it works well when there's unity
