Spin. Don't get dizzy.

Point your toes!

Flip your hair.

Arch your back.

Point your toes!

And...

Hold.

Ready. 1...2...3...

JUMP!

My ankle buckled when I landed. I felt it immediately as I did not stick the landing. The jump wasn't that complex.

All I had to do was leap, swing my leg to get momentum, twist three times, and land in a splits. Simple, right? WRONG!

I could never stick the landing. I always landed wrong on my feet. Why couldn't I stick the damn landing?!

"Come on, Luce! I know you can stick that landing! You're overthinking it way too much." My teacher, Dani, always new the problem and the solution. She is a professional dancer. I was her only student.

It's kind of a funny story, the way she found me.

********Flasback*********

The pavement flashed by as I nailed my arial cartwheel. There was a puddle from last night's storm laying underneath me. The dirty ground didn't phase me, though. I was used to the grim and grime of Chicago.

I could feel the beat of the boombox jolting through my core, urging me into my next move. Dance battles are my favorite part of dancing. You get to show all you got and make it your own. I loved mixing new moves together and creating new things.

The crowd was loving me, cheering me on as I was totally creaming my opponent. He thought that because he was a guy and I was a girl that he was a better street dancer and hip-hop dancer than me. WRONG!

I finished my little cherade by steeling his lid. (A/N That means hat.) I tossed it up in the air, spun a few times on the ground, and caught the stupid Cubs hat mid-spin. I was a boss.

The crowd congratulated me as I collected my twenty bucks from this dude. I strutted off, mentally patting myself on my back.

"You know, you're pretty good." Did I just hear a British accent in the middle of Tinley Park?

I turned to find a gorgeous girl standing behind me. She had big curly hair, dark skin, and a perfect body. She was dressed in a hoodie, tank-top, and short shorts.

"Thanks. These dance battles are my favorites. These are the ones that test you on your feet. Make you think."

"Yeah, I like them, too. Though, I didn't have much of them back where I grew up."

"I bet. Well, nice meeting you."

"But, I wasn't done."

I was pretty sure I was late for dinner already, so I stopped to have a little chat.

"So, how old are you?"

"Sixteen. But I turn seventeen next month."

"Okay, how long have you been dancing?"

"Gosh, almost eleven years now."

"Wow, where do you dance at?"

"Oh, let's just say... money is a little tight back at my house."

"Wait..." Her eyebrowns furrowed. "You're telling me that you don't take classes and dance at a studio?"

"Never have. And probably never will."

"You dance like that, and you have NEVER taken professional lessons?"

"Yeah, I tought myself from watching tv and videos on YouTube. Why?"

"What if I told you that I could get you professional training and improved skills for no cost, whatsoever?"

Was she for real? "I'm listening..."

*******End Flashback*********

"I know. I know. I don't know why I'm not landing this. I have to nail this audition." I stayed in my curled up position on the floor, as I heard the thud of Dani's feet striding over to me.

"Honey, you are going to have to land that if you wana even come close to making it next week." I huffed a sigh in frustration. "I guess we'll try again tomorrow..."

"Thanks for the confidence boost, hon." Dani really was a great person, but when it comes to dance, she is BRUTALLY honest with everyone.

"Alright, I have plans, so I need to go home and shower and get all dolled up, as you Americans say." Dani always makes jokes about my American-ness. She claims I have a very thick accent, but I think it's Dani who has the thick accent.

"Do these plans involve a certain yummy British crumpet who is currently part of a certian worldly famous pop band?"

I could see her cheeks glowing from across the studio. It was absolutely adorable how much she loved Liam Payne. That's right. You read that right. She is dating THE Liam Payne that is 1/5 of One Direction.

You know what that means? I think you can put the puzzle pieces together. My dance teacher is Danielle Peazer. THE Danielle Peazer.

She found me dancing in Chicago and brought me out to London, England. I lived in a nice, quaint apartment that Dani and I both paid for. I worked in the diner down the street from my house. I didn't make enough to pay for the whole thing, but I used to pay nothing.

Dani used to pay for everything I did. She made a lot of money dancing. I wanted to do that. Dance for a living. She rose me up from the ground. I would have never made a living off dance if I had stayed in Chicago. I didn't have the finaces to make it. You gotta give in order to get.

And I had nothing to give.

"Yes, we have dinner reservations for seven."

"Seven?! Girl, it's already 4:30! Hurry your ass home!"

"OH SHIT! I'm going, I'm going!" She snatched up her bag and headed towards the exit.

"Okay, I'm gonna head home, too. Tell Liam I said hi."

"Okay."

"And you must say it in an American accent!"

She just laughed as she walked out the door, leaving me to lock up. I shut off all the lights and made sure everything was okay before leaving. I locked the doors and began my way down the street.

"Lucy!"

I turned to fine curls bouncing behind me to catch up. "Hey, Harry! What are you doing here?"

"I figured you'd be the last one to leave. I hoped you'd still be here. I was wondering if I could hang with you tonight? Everyone else has dates, so I thought we'd have a single appreciation night!"

Oh, Harry Styles. You special, special boy.
