A/N I know it's been a while since I've updated and I'm sorry, but there has been a lot going on. My grandmother and dog died so I've attended services and I just haven't dedicated any time to writing. This chapter will be super short as I am writing in on my phone while on an airplane but at least it is something. Again, I'm sorry.

My revelation struck fear in my heart. Each sinew twisted and bent in time with the rapid heart rate. My thoughts ran rampant with scenes of things that could happen. We could be killed or tortured and nobody would know. Those thoughts alone made my hands tremble.

As the man in the passenger seat reached over the console to turn up the music I had an idea. The idea was hard for me to focus on, considering the fact that there was a county singer crooning loud enough in my ear to burst my eardrum, but I had to tell my idea to Louis anyway.

The stereo was the perfect cover, loud enough to drown out the sounds of our desperate whispers. The music was harsh enough to counteract our pleas and it was invasive enough to make sure nobody saw the worry in our eyes.

To anyone else, we may have looked a bit out of place, but perfectly content in our seats. But inside, Louis and I screamed and protested and dammed the woman driving because just when we thought we had escaped, there was another obstacle.

All of the stress and worry caused me to let out a large sigh. When my breath left my lungs, so did some of my hope. And it kind of just hung in the air, a reminder that I almost had it. Louis heard me sigh and turned to face me, eyes full of worry.

"Everything will work itself out,"

He mouthed to me from his seat.

I found myself smiling partially from his reassurance and partially from his hand, which became entangled in mine.

I pulled myself closer to him, scooting across the cracked leather seats. Now was as good a time as any to tell him my plan.

"So while we were driving,"

I almost yelled it directly in Louis' ear because of the loud music.

"We don't know these people and they seem a bit off putting to me, so-"

My sentence was cut off short as the car jolted to a halt. No longer were we on a true road, but the driver had stopped us almost in the middle of a forest clearing.

I didn't know what to say or what to do. Louis and I just sat in the car, his thumb tracing circles on my wrist.

It wasn't long before the man and woman in the front seat got out of the car. They walked to the from of the vehicle and began to converse. There was a dark cloud around them, one that grew with each push and harsh word from the other person. They were arguing badly and spitting knives at each other's throats. Now was our chance.

Louis took the initiative, throwing open the car door and pulling me out with him. He sprinted into the brush with me hot on his heels. The things that propelled us were not common sense or hope. We were running because we had almost lost everything we worked for and could not lose it again.

It was a long time before we actually stopped. We ran for what seemed like hours. Louis would blaze a trail and I would just follow.

However we had to stop when Night began to drag his fingers across the night sky and open the curtain to reveal the stars. He also blew an icy breath down out spines, creating a shiver that wouldn't go away.

And as Louis as I lay together, quietly murmuring, he stopped my and told me to listen.

Far off in the distance we could hear the man and woman arguing still. Over what exactly, I could not say, but their shouts rang out across the forest as a sick reminder of what could have been our fate had we not gotten away.
