Chapter 15

Kate's POV

I looked at everyone again, serious this time. "Why the hell didn't any of you get off your ass and

help him?" All of them except Jimmy and Sarah looked down.

I sighed, irritated. Then I fidgeted a little, trying to get comfy, my arm was starting to cramp up. I

fidgeted again, I didn't want to have to make him move, but my arm was bugging the crap out of me.

"Zack, your gonna have to move, my arm is cramping up."

He sat up and watched me fidget. "Uh, how do you want me to-"

"You can put your head in my lap." He nodded and laid on his back and rested his head in my lap. He

fixed the ice packs on his face so he didn't have to hold them. I placed my ice pack back on his mouth and he sighed.

"Great way to start the day, huh?" I glared at Jimmy and he just smiled. I shook my head and ran my

fingers through Zack's hair.

"It's a good thing you didn't get those snake bites yet, Zack." I looked at Matt, he had a smirk on his

face.

"Yeah I guess so. I'm gonna have to wait even longer to get them now." I saw the ice packs move,

which told me he was scrunching up his face.

We were all quiet for a while, until I broke the silence. "I hate this school." I had my eyes closed with

my head tilted back against the wall so I couldn't see anyone's reaction.

I felt Zack lift his head up to stare at me. "Why?" You could hear the confusion in his voice.

"It's the second day and we've already been put through tons of shit."

I felt him shake his head after he placed it back onto my lap.

"And it's not even home room yet…" Brian said out of the blue. Then the bell rang.

The rest of the day went by pretty good. No more fights happened, nobody broke up, nobody got

hurt. Today should have been our first day.

We were all back at Brian's house again, Val was with us this time, and Jimmy was passing out

playing cards to everyone.

"What are we playing?"

"Kate, there are only three card games we play:  Poker, Black Jack, and Bull Shit." Jimmy explained

while he shuffled his cards in his hand.

"I'm gonna say Bull Shit since I can't play poker and since Black Jack requires money and only two

cards."

"We don't always play with money." I looked at Matt and he winked. "And trust me, you'll know

how to play poker in no time."

"Oh goody, the sooner I learn the closer you guys get to dragging me into a game of Strip Poker."

"She knows us so well!" Jimmy threw his hands up and almost lost his cards in the process of doing

it.

"I say we skip playing BS and teach this little lady how to play Poker." I looked at Brian after he

announced this.
