(a villanelle i had to write for my ap lit class)
Adagio 1, sick sadness dares not ring.
But oh, the mind, it likes to fool this heart.
These sighs fade after I, with laughter, sing.
Yes, I think this haze hath grown limb and wing.
Though darkness seeps in deep, stand I apart.
Adagio, sick sadness dares not ring.
Effulgent I remain though last bawl's sting
Is weight writ on my chest in modern art.
These sighs fade after I, with laughter, sing.
Such glee small greetings from sun's rays doth bring.
And halted are the 'vance of a wick'd dart.
Adagio, sick sadness dares not ring.
In mellow daydreams, love and peace are king.
Do you not see how hate and strife depart?
These sighs fade after I, with laughter, sing.
This day's been full. In moonrise, skies will swing
To hold, caress, sweet darkness doth impart.
Adagio, sick sadness dares not ring.
These sighs fade after I, with laughter, sing.
