Part 29

Calista’s POV

“Finally!” I sighed as I stared down at my outfit. It took a while, but I was finally happy. I had on a nice striped tank top, blue skinny jeans and a pair of Converse. It wasn’t the fanciest outfit ever, but this was just a casual thing.

/Right. Just casual. It’s not like your going on your first date with Mr.Papasito!Guapo!Estas muy caliente!/

Seriously? What’s with the Spanish?

/Fine. Mr.Er ist so scharf!Ja hoor! Hij is en lekker ding!/

Okay. German? Dutch? Are you joking with me right now!?!

I bit my lip as I pulled on the hem of my shirt nervously. Maybe I should be a little more dressy, but that’d just make things awkward. I just needed to relax.

I took a deep breath and looked in the mirror one last time before rushing downstairs. I was meeting him on the hill, then we’d go on our ‘date’.

Just the word send flutters of pleasure through my stomach as my excitement started to build. Until I flung open the door and it dissolved faster than you could say “buzz kill”

“I knew you couldn’t do it! I just knew it!”

Standing in the doorway was a very pissed off McKenzie holding a gigantic IKEA bag larger than herself.

“Kenzie, what’s with the bag? And why are you here?”

“You didn’t think I’d let my best friend go off on her first date with Mr.Hothothot without helping her out did you?”

What’s with all the ‘Mr.Whatevers!?!

“Huh?”

I blushed as I realized I had said it aloud, but before I could formulate a reply Kenzie was barging through my house and rushing towards my room.

“Hey!” I screamed, running after her before she could tear everything up.

“Sit,” she stated as I entered. Pointing at my swivel chair.

I began to protest when I saw her expression, it was like a volcano threatening to erupt. Quickly, I sat down and sent her a shaky smile.

“Not even any make-up. God. What am I gonna do with you? It’s your first date and you’re dressed like you’re just going to school!”

“It’s just casual!”

“It’s NEVER just casual! Now shut up and close your eyes!”

“Why?”

“Moisturizer. Duh!”

Hesitantly, I closed my eyes as McKenzie slapped something cold and creamy on my face. Just when I thought she was done, she began brushing something onto my cheeks.

“Open your eyes. I’m doing your lashes now,” she barked. Completely serious and in her element. It scared me slightly.

***

After the makeup was done and she finished attacking my hair with curling irons, she shoved me into the bathroom and threw a blue dress in behind me.

“Change! Now!”

“Okay okay! Jeez!”

Hastily, I yanked it on and ran back out to McKenzie. I caught sight of myself in the mirror and gasped.

“Whoa!” I whispered in shock. McKenzie simply stared at me, a smug expression plastered on her face.

“I’m pretty darn good aren’t I?” she mocked me. Pretending to nonchalantly brush off my amazement.
