The Dying Roses; My Undying Love

The day you were admitted

I brought you a bouquet of red roses

As as symbol of my love.

The doctors said you would survive

And for some time

You proved them right.

The roses grew ever more radiant

As your strength improved.

But the day you passed

All the world knew it

And the roses began to fade.

Once shining petals turned black

And were swept from the hospital floor.

Even though you were physically absent

Your spirit lived on.

For I knew you could see me

And I knew you were there,

For the smell of roses lingered.

But I wish at times we could talk

But heaven has no email address

So prayer'll just have to do.
