Chapter Three

Disagreements

A few hours later Mr .Parker called everyone down for dinner. I wasn’t very hungry which but I made my way to the kitchen by following where all the noise was coming from. Mrs Parker was piling heaps of food onto everyones plates and all the boys were taking their seats at the long wooden dining table in the dining room which was connected to the kitchen.

Mrs Parker realized I was in the room for the first time and offered me a smile which I returned with one so small that I didn’t know if it was even possible to see. Looking around at everyone I noticed two little boys who I hadn’t seen before. I bit my lip so that I wouldn’t smile at them, they were practically bouncing off the walls with energy. One of the little boys bounded onto me holding my leg. Looking up at me he flashed me a sweet smile showing off his cute dimples.

“My name is Kenny, ” he said in a adorable baby voice.

“Brooklyn” I told him kneeling down so I was closer to his height.

“Bookin." He tried to repeat but only to get it wrong.

“How about you call my Brooke?” I told him, he nodded his head eagerly and I couldn’t help but smile. I quickly covered it up hoping that nobody saw.

“You can come sit next to me.” He said. I stood up as he dragged me towards the table. He sat me down in a seat next to his twin,  Dustin. Kenny sat on the other side of me. Besides Kenny was Tyson who was sat next to Max. Opposite me was Tristan, Ash, Charlie and Logan and Mrs Parker and Mr Parker sat at the heads of the table. Mrs Parker sat a plate in front of me and I gave her another small smile that was barley visible. All the boys kept stealing curious glances towards me. I plastered on a confident face to hide my irritation that was bubbling just beneath the surface. Eventually they took their attention off of me and concentrated on their food that they pratically enhaled. I ate a few bites of my food but wasn’t able to eat anymore so I just moved it around on the plate with my fork. It’s not that the food wasn’t appetizing because it was, I put it down to my tiredness.

Mr Parker's phone rang so he quickly excused himself from the table to answer it. Five minutes later he came back in with a sorrowful expression on his face.

“Honey, that was work. There’s an emergency meeting, we both need to be present according to Tim." She sighed and got up from the table, bringing her plate away.

“We'll be back in about an hour or two you guys finish eating and remember Kenny and Dustin need to be in bed by seven thirty.” She said picking up her car keys and leaving with Mr Parker, I heard the door open and shut behind them and now here I was left in a house full of boys. Great.

“Something wrong with your food?” Tristan asked noticing my plate of food had hardly been touched.

“No, I’m just not hungry” I told him. He didn't seem to believe me and Ash gave a snort of disbelief which was unnecesary.

“So you never did tell us why you were here.” Charlie reminded and I mentally cursed him in my head.
