Chapter 3

"Gale! Is it you?" I screamed "Yes, I've missed you im coming to District 12 next week I wanted to know if I could stay at your house." "Sure of course! I've missed you a lot!" I reply. "Me too, Ok I will see you soon." I then hang up the phone and go tell Peeta. He is happy that Gale is coming and says that we should throw him a party the day he arrives. We both start planing everything. (Gale's Pov) I'm so excited that I get to see Katniss next week. I've missed her so much. I know she loves Peeta but maybe now that he is still in the Capitol I might have a chance with her. I start to pack my bags and I go get her a gift. I get her a gold hair clip with two pink flowers on it. I know she will love it! (Katniss' Pov) I just realize that I didn't tell Gale that Peeta is back with me. Well I'm sure he won't mind because he just wants to see me but part of me still thinks he will be jealous about him. I push that away from my mind and I go to meet Peeta at his bakery. "Hey babe!" He says. "Hi sweetie. How are you?" "I'm good I'm just finishing up these cupcakes for Gale's party" They look wonderful they are chocolate cupcakes with white frosting and decorations to symbolize the woods like little frosting trees and lakes. They remind of the times when the woods were the only place of escape for us. "They are beautiful! Thank you Peeta!" I say and kiss him. He twirls me around and we start dancing. "I love you so much and I never want to lose you!" He says and continues to twirl me around. Finally it's time for Gale's train to arrive everyone is at my house Haymitch, Hazel, Rory, Johanna, Annie, Effie, Beetee, Jonah (Annie and Finnick's baby), and even my mom. Gale rings the doorbell and we all greet him. I give him a big hug. "I'm so glad your here Peeta and I have been planning this party since the day you told me you were coming." "Peeta? He's back?" He asks looking disapointed. "Yeah he came back about three months ago." "Oh Ok where is he?" he asks. "Over there getting the cupcakes he made for you." We both walk towards the kitchen and he gasps at the cupcakes. "Do you like them?" I ask. "Like them? I love them!" He turns around and hugs me and kisses me. I am in shock and I slap him. "Why did you do that?! You know I am with Peeta, Gale!" I say. "I'm sorry Katniss." he replies. "Let's just forget it Ok, Gale I know you have loved me but I'm sorry I just can't do this right now I just got Peeta back and I don't want to lose him." I say softly. "Alright Katniss, I'm sorry I just... I don't know what came over me." "Don't worry Gale I love you. You are my best friend and I could never replace you
but I just can't be in a romantic relationship with you. I really love Peeta." "FINE! I loved you way before he even talked to you but you choose him?! That's fine with me but I'm not just going to sit around here whatching you fall in love with him again!" Gale starts running out the door. "Gale!!! Wait please don't go!" I start crying on the door step. (Gale's Pov) I can hear her sobs but I don't care! She chose him not me! I just want to leave I have never been so embarresed but she is still my best friend...
