Right From The Start {Book 1}

Break Up

It's after school and I meet Fede by his locker. He is coming out of his seventh class.

"Hey man." [Fede]

"Hey, I have something very important to tell you." [Leon]

"Alright." [Fede]

"It's about Violetta." [Leon]

"What about her?" [Fede]

"I heard her talking to Francesca during lunch and she is planning on breaking up with you." [Leon]

He paused for a moment, at this point I don't know what Fede is thinking or what he was going to do.

"I can't believe this. I tell her that I love her, and now she wants to break up with me. I am so stupid! How did I not see this coming?!" [Fede]

He then hits his locker with his fist. Anger was not how I expected Fede to react. Maybe telling him was not the right answer. It's not like I couldn't stop him. The first chance he sees Violetta, he is going to do something he might regret.

Sure enough, there she was. At her locker as if everything was fine. The guys are surrounding Fede trying to get him to calm down, but one he saw her there was no way of stopping him.

"VIOLETTA!" [Fede]

"F-Federico? Why do you sound angry?" [Violetta]

"I don't sound angry, I am angry!" [Fede]

"Why?" [Violetta]

"Like you don't know. I guess I am one step ahead of you then, sweetheart. I am tired of being the one who is always suffering in this relationship!" [Fede]

"What are you talking about?" [Violetta]

"Don't worry about breaking up with me Vilu, because I am breaking up with you! Now tell me, how does it feel being blindsided?" [Fede]

Violetta is in full tears, and everyone in the hallway is watching them. It was so quiet that all you could hear was Fede's yells. With so much tension in the atmosphere Violetta ran out. The boys went to get Fede out of here and try to get him to calm down before rehearsals.

Instead of following them, I went after Violetta. I know, I am asking myself why too. It's just that I heard Violetta saying she wanted to break up with him, so shouldn't she feel relieved. But no, she ran out crying feeling embarrassed. It wasn't the reaction I was looking for. I need answers.

"Don't worry about breaking up with me Vilu, because I am breaking up with you! Now tell me, how does it feel being blindsided?" [Fede]

I was completely astonished. How did he know that I was going to break up with him when the only person who knew was Francesca. And I know she couldn't have told him, she wouldn't break my trust. Everyone was starring at us, listening to us. I've never felt this embarrassed in my life. I didn't want everyone to also see me weak. All I did was ran.

I'm glad I found this spot. A bench in the park under a beautiful cherry blossom tree. Right across from the lake, with no one around. I could feel sad and not have anyone see me. That is until someone stopped by.

"Leon. W-What are you doing here?" [Vilu]

I quickly wipe my face, making sure I didn't look like a dreadful clown.

"The guys went with Fede to calm him down. I just wanted to see how you were. You ran out of there pretty fast." [Leon]

"Thanks for trying to be nice, but it's none of your concern." [Vilu]
