Right From The Start {Book 1}

Science Class

I punch Leon's arm.

"Why did you say that?!" [Vilu]

"What? I was speaking the truth. I have never heard you sing. No one has." [Leon]

"Just because you never heard me sing doesn't mean that I can't sing!" [Vilu]

I walked away before any of the guys decided to laugh at me or make some scene. Besides I have more advanced classes than the guys, except for science and English. I have those classes with everyone. However, I still don't understand how Andres could get into those advanced classes.

It's third period and everyone that I know from homeroom has science. Since it is the first day back from break, all teachers allow students to change into new seating. Three people maximum to one science lab station.

Nati, Ludmilla, and Fede sat together at table one. Broadway, Napo, Broco at table three. Maxi and Leon sat at table four while Francesca and Camilla sat at table two. I had to choose, sit with my friends who I am angry at right now or take a chance at making new friends by sitting next to people I am not familiar to. Because I couldn't stand being near Leon right now I went and sat next to Francesca and Camilla.

"Do you think I could sit with you girls?" [Vilu]

"Sure!" [Francesca, Camilla]

I looked over my shoulder and saw Leon's face had went from happy to sad.

"Dude, why is Vilu not sitting with us?" [Maxi]

"I guess she is still upset about what I said to Francesca and Camilla in homeroom." [Leon]

"We still have a chance to change our seating tomorrow. I am sure she will sit with us then." [Maxi]

"You're right." [Leon]

- - - - (FRANCESCA'S POV) - - - -

"So how come you are not sitting with Leon and Maxi?" [Fran]

"Francesca!" [Cami]

"What? I am just curious I mean aren't you and Leon dating?" [Fran]

"Me and Leon?... Dating?... No. We are just really close friends." [Vilu]

"Oh, I thought you two were dating since you two are always together." [Fran]

"No we just grew up together, that's all." [Vilu]

"Alright can we get to today's assignment. I can't afford to be behind in this class." [Cami]

Science class went by really fast because the teacher had planned for us to do a little experiment. I thought it was kind of cool. Before going to the next class I stopped by my locker to get my notebook. Now it's English and all the guys that I know are in my class.

Over my shoulder I noticed that Leon was watching me and then began to walk into my direction. To prevent this small conversation from beginning I went straight to class.

I was the fourth person to walk into the classroom and shortly afterwards the guys followed. I had chosen the corner seat in the back and of course Leon choose to sit beside me. Maxi sat in front of me, Fede in front of Leon and the rest of the guys followed through the pattern.

"Hey  guys and I were going to meet by Maxi's locker for lunch. In case you still plan on sitting next to us." [Leon]

"What other options  I have?" [Vilu]

"I don't get it. Why are you acting like you hate being our friend now?" [Leon]

"I am just realizing that maybe we are not as close of friends as I thought we were." [Vilu]

"What do you mean by that?" [Leon]

"Never mind..." [Vilu]

"No! Tell me.. what are you trying to say?" [Leon]

"You don't get to make choices for me, because you don't know me as well as you think you know me!" [Vilu]

The class became quiet, and I could feel the glares on us. Feeling humiliated, I looked straight down into my diary and began writing.

Dear Diary,

Why can't he understand that I want to be more than a friend. How can I by seen as one of the guys. Well I want things to change. I can still ride a skateboard, hang out with everyone, make jokes. But I would like for them to see that I have other interests. Believe it or not I like to play music and sing. I haven't sang in front of anybody before because I get really nervous, but it doesn't mean that I don't sing. Why can't they understand? Why can't Leon understand?
