Percy~
A tear slid down Annabeth's face as she read the note I'd written. I wish I hadn't written it in the first place. Annabeth read the note over and over, looking more furious every time through.
I knew it would be this way. I stared at the floor, waiting for her to yell or cry or both.
"Annabeth," I whispered, finally looking up at her after a few minutes. The note was still tightly clutched in her hand. She was visibly shaking, her skin stark white.
"Annabeth, what..." She looked up at me. Her normally stormy gray eyes were wide and fearful.
"Why would you do this, Percy?" she whispered with a choke. "Why would you leave because of me?"
I swallowed hard. I could feel the pain radiating off of her. Then I croaked, barely audible, "I love you. You were my everything."
She froze for a moment, then tackled me with a rib crushing hug. "You're my everything too," she said, stroking my hair. "I'm sorry I ever did this to you."
"Apology accepted, Wise Girl."
