he's trying to keep a secret from you (proposal)

It's just 26 hours before the big event. The big deal. The big thing. Barry's proposal. It has taken him blood, stress and tears to manage to keep it secret from you, but of course it hasn't been unnoticed.

"Barry, please! I know you've been hiding something from me, and I'm starting to get worried!" Your voice is trembling, there are tears on the edge of running down your cheeks.

"I'm not hiding anything from you, babe," Barry reaches his arms to hug your hips, but you take a step back."You are! You're acting... You're acting weird!" Finally, the word comes to you, and your whole body was shaking. A part of you knew that Iris was just a friend of them. That she and Barry would never hurt you like that, but a bigger part of you was convinced something was going on between the two of them.

"I always act weird," Barry tries to act casual but fails miserably.
"You never call me babe. It feels unnatural for us both!" You fire back at him, which makes him sigh and shake his head.
"Oh God Y/N..." You're just about to speak up again at his comment, but immediately shut up when you see him go down on his knee.

"This was not how it was supposed to happen Y/N, but I hate to see you like this... Y/N I love you. All of the cells in my body feels an urge to protect you at all costs. The quarks in my atoms are always longing for your touch. Now will you please me, by being my wife? Y/N will you marry me?"

Your cheeks were wet. Wet because of his beautiful speech, wet because of your earlier thoughts. And it certainly didn't help that the tears had been ready to roll down your cheeks just minutes ago. Though Barry instantly mistakes your out-of-control cry and starts explaining himself.

"I know this is not what you wanted, but I had it all planned out for tomorrow! Everyone helped me rig this-" you quickly came to your senses and kissed him.
"You're such a dork! That was beautiful!"
