Chapter 3

The next day...

Jeff POV

My legs were shaking slightly as I followed Alex and Nick to class. I was nervous of Sebastian. Nervous that he'd take advantage of me like my father.

I sat down in the middle of Alex and Nick. I was about to try to focus on class.

But it wasn't working.

Alex had mentioned she thought I had something like hyperactivity or something like that. I don't really remember. But she said that it can take away my concentration. She also said I might not be able to concentrate because of ADHD. She's told me I have so many things, and I honestly don't know what most of them mean. And I keep mixing them up in my head.

But she was right about one thing. I couldn't concentrate because I was constantly scanning the room for threats and danger. I hadn't really realized that's what I was doing until she said it. But it's true. I do that...

"Mr.Sterling. Do you know the answer to number 9?" The teacher asked.

I looked down at my textbook. Number 9 looked awfully confusing. It was the lesson I'd missed yesterday.

"Uh... No," I said, my face turning red.

"Please pay attention. We just went over number 8, which was very similar."

My face felt like it was burning. I was so embarrassed.

Later...

Jeff POV

"Look. Half of your clothes have holes in them!" Alex said, holding up another pair of my pants.

"I can't help it. It just happens," I said, sliding down to the floor.

Alex was totally raiding my half of the dresser, and going through my clothes for some reason I didn't get.

"I'm going to ask my uncle for some money, and then we're going shopping for you."

"Alex, I don't need anything."

"Yes, you do! Everything is either too small on you, or it has holes in it!"

"Well my dad didn't really buy me new clothes..."

"Well that's why we're going to get you some new ones. They'll fit way better and be more comfortable."

"Ok."

"We can go this weekend. And Nick can come too if he wants."

Alex walked over, grabbed my hands, and pulled me up. We sat down on her bed. She grabbed the top of my blazer, and gently pulled, making me lean closer to her. She kissed my lips, and it felt incredible. But it made me blush so hard, just like this morning in class.

"Aw, Jeff. You're too adorable," Alex said, lightly brushing her fingers over my cheek.

"I can't help it! I've never had a girlfriend before!"

"It's fine. I like when you blush. It's cute."

"Well I don't like when it happens. It feels like my face is on fire."

Alex laughed, and kissed me again, only making me blush harder.

"Quit making me blush on purpose!" I whined.

Alex laughed at me. I gently wrapped my arms around her waist, and cuddled into her side.

Friday afternoon...

Jeff POV

I'd had a talk with Alex's uncle about how I'm doing. He kept asking me all these questions that made me slightly uncomfortable, but I knew he was only doing it so he could help me.

He asked if I wanted to go to a therapist, and I said no because I don't really trust many people. I trust Alex and Nick, and I want them to be the ones who help me get better.

"Are you excited?" Alex asked.

"For what?"

"To get some new clothes!"

"Uh... I guess so."

We were currently in her uncle's car, headed to the mall. I've never been there before. I always had to stay home while my dad went shopping and stuff.

We got to the mall, and Alex pulled me into a random store. She pulled random things off of racks, and made me go try stuff on. She kept seeing how they looked on me and stuff.

"So what were your favorites?" Alex asked.

"Um... I really liked the blue sweatshirt and the dark gray sweatpants."

"Ok, cool. So we'll get those, and then we're going to get you some pairs of skinny jeans."

"But they feel weird."

"How?"

"Like... Tight."

"That's how they're supposed to feel. They're called skinny jeans for a reason."

"Ok..."

Alex paid for my stuff. We went to a ton of other stores too, and I had to try on more stuff.

Finally, we were done.

"So did you have fun?"

"I'm tired of trying stuff on."

Alex laughed.

"Well that's understandable. Are you hungry?"

"So hungry..."

"Alright. Let's go upstairs and grab some ice cream."

"Really?"

"Yeah, why not?"

"My dad never let me have ice cream."

"Well your dad was evil."

I followed Alex up the stairs.

"What flavor do you want?"

"I have no idea."

"Well pick."

"You pick one for me."

"Ok, fine. Go sit down on the bench over there, and wait."

"Ok."

I sat down, sighing. I was really tired out. But I'd had fun today.

Alex sat down next to me, and handed me my bowl. It had chocolate ice cream in it.

"Thank you," I said, picking up my spoon.

"You're welcome."

I ate it quickly because I was really hungry. We threw out our garbage, and then we got picked up by Alex's uncle, who I guess is now my new dad.

We got back to our dorm. Nick was doing homework.

"How was shopping?" Nick asked.

"Good. We got him a bunch of stuff," Alex said.

"Cool."

I collapsed on the bed, feeling even more tired now.

"You ok?" Alex asked, sitting down next to me.

"Yeah... Just tired..."

"Go take a shower and change into some of your new clothes. And then you can go to bed early if you want."

"Ok..."

Alex took the tags off of my new clothes for me. I went to the bathroom, and took a shower.
