The keys
Of a piano
Began playingSlowly and pacing
Themselves faster
And faster
Until the melody
GainedA rightful climax
Thus began the story
Of the pieces included
Infatuated with the idea
That this could only
Last foreverNimble digits slid
Down the ivory of
The keysBeginning another new
Chapter of this journey
The humans thought
This had to be the greatest
Of all timeThis would never end
And they lied
To themselves
As the last flame slithered
Flickered weakly
And sunk out of sight
Into ash and smokeThere were tears of
Joy and tears
Of sadness
And they promised to
Never leave the world behindBut
The humans found
Another place
A place to cope
With the lost home
That left a depression
In their faces and heartAnd the invisible force
Lifted them off
Their feetBrought them back down harshly
And crushed their skulls
Then the keys halted
And vibrated abruptlyAnd only then did
They realized theyHad already left that first
Place for good
