I stare up from my pen, hopping at whoever passes by. I need a human. I need one to protect. But people already taken my brother and sister. It's not fair! I was always mother's favorite.
"Sir you sure you want to see him? He's a rambunctious one him." Say the evil store keeper man.
A boy, about 17 nods his head. He has black hair, like dark black. And he has green eyes. I don't mind him. He seems alright.
"Okay pup come here."
Store keeper man reaches for me and I growl. I sound really scary but he grabs me anyways, handing me to the boy. "So boy what are you gonna name him?"
"I ain't sure. But he sure is ferocious."
"Not a bit! He's a really young'un. He's only been here for a week."
One week, which was way too long without my brother and sister! "Well sir, how much does he cost?"
"He's free. He's a stray. We don't make customers pay for strays."
"But you said before that his family is gone."
"They all were strays, a mother and three pups. Two males and one female."
Strays? I wonder what strays mean. I am betting it's a good word since the boy seems happy. "I know exactly what I'll call you then."
What? What are you gonna call me? I am so happy to finally have a human!
"Bartholomew."
