Haley walked through the halls of St Thomas, Jax had left for a run earlier yesterday and had asked Haley to check on Abel while he was gone and give him updates daily on how he was doing. Abel survived both surgeries. Gemma and Haley were taking turns sitting with Abel and reading to him, Haley so bad wanted to be able to hold him but the doctor's said it would be a few weeks before he was strong enough to come out of the incubator, she opened the door to see Gemma sitting with her book to read Abel, the same book that she used to read Jax and Thomas when they were younger
"Look Abel your mommy is here" Gemma joked
"Funny grandma, but I'm not his mom" Haley said sitting down
"Your more of a mother then that junkie whore Haley. The boy needs a strong female in his life" Gemma said pushing her glasses up to rest on her hair
"That's why he has you, gem, jax made his decision when I left" Haley said
"Jax is always gonna love you Haley you know that" Gemma said as she stood up
"He may love me Gem, but Jax can't commit we both know that" Haley said as Gemma slowly shook her head
"If only he would baby, you two would make beautiful babies" Gemma said rubbing Haley's arm
"Yes we would, but that's on Jax" Haley said as she smiled at Gemma
"He'll come around Haley, he always does, there's a reason he stuck around you all those years" Gemma said
"He didn't have a choice Gemma my dad pretty much forced this on himself" Haley said
"It wasn't just piney sweetheart alot of it was John, he wanted the best for the clubs future, at one point he wanted to legally do an arranged marriage but your mother wouldn't allow it, we all knew you two would end up married" Gemma said as Haley started laughing
"John really wanted to do that? What was dad's take on it?" Haley asked
"He was all for it, cmon Haley we all know Jax's crow never got covered" Gemma said slightly raising Haley's shirt to see the crow still holding its place
"Gemma that was a long time ago" Haley said pushing her shirt back down
"Just give him time Haley, Jax will realize I promise" Gemma said as she walked out of the door closing it quietly behind her
Haley had just finished up reading to Abel, she looked at the time and realized that visiting hours were just about over, she said her goodbyes to Abel and decided that she should just go into work early so there could be a chance she could skate out earlier then four in the morning
Shortly after her shift ended Haley made her way back to her small apartment, when she opened the door she noticed a Manila envelope laying on the door mat, she picked it up and looked at the front of it noticing there was no return address, she slowly opened it and saw it contained two photos, one of Jax with another female on the back of his bike and the other was Jax and the same female in a very compromising position. She shoved the photos back into the envelope and threw them on the counter, she opened the fridge remembering that she didn't have any beer, she decided that it was best to leave the situation alone for the remainder of the night and get some sleep, but memories flooded her mind
"Hey Lee, do you ever think you'll get married some day?" Jax asked sitting beside his best friend
"I dont know Jax, I mean I've seen alot of bad things happen when people are married" Haley said biting her lip
"Yeah, but what if you found the right person" Jax asked pushing a piece of brown hair out of her eye
"Jax i doubt there is a right person for me, I'm the prodigy daughter of a Samcro member, most guys hear that and run" Haley laughed
"Haley there's someone out there for you I promise" Jax said smiling
"Still doubt it Jax, I mean really what guy can go up against you and Opie?, No one stands a chance I'll be lonely forever" Haley frowned
"I'll marry you then" Jax smiled, even though they were friends right now and he was with Tara, his first would always be Haley, first anything they shared their first kiss at age seven, they lost thier virginity to eachother and they always depended on one another for everything.
" Jax you could marry Tara" Haley spoke
"Lee, what I have with you is different then what I have with Tara. Your my first and I love you" Jax said placing a kiss on her forehead
"I love you too Jax but, if you want Tara then be with her, don't worry about me I'll be okay without you" Haley smiled
"But I won't be okay without you. It's so obvious that Tara doesn't like you and that bothers me" Jax said softly
"Jax I'm a big girl I can take care of myself, I have my brother to look after me. If your in love with Tara that okay" Haley said
"I'm not. Lee, its so different. I'm in love with you, you make me want to be that better man then our fathers, you make me smile and we have fun, loads of fun. When your on the back of my bike with me laughing and screaming to go faster it's a rush and it scares me" Jax said touching her cheek, even though only being seventeen Jax knew he was in love
"You need to feel that with Tara, maybe after I go to college it will feel different" Haley said
"I know it won't. Because every second I'm with Tara I'm wishing i was with you, Lee i dont want you to leave me" jax said resting his forehead against hers
"Jax, i have to go you know what this means to me" Haley whispered
"Promise me you'll call me when you get married so I can see you on your beautiful day" Jax stammered out as he shed a tear knowing he was letting his first love go forever
"Only if I can come to yours, I love you Jax I always have you know this, but you need to let me go so you can love someone else as much as you love me" Haley cried
"I'm gonna wait for you Lee, I promise" Jax said placing a small kiss on her lips
Haley woke up in a sweat, that day always haunted her, the promises that were made were broken, she couldn't stay mad at Jax forever she didn't expect him to wait around for her like she did him, but it still tore that wound open just a little bit more now that Abel came along; no matter what, Haley would always be there for Jax but her heart was tired of hurting. It was time to let him go forever
