The Alpha's Mate

Chapter 14

Alec and I were hanging.....in a hammock. We had been together for hours and were finally, settling down. My head was resting on his chest, and our fingers were intertwined. His free hand was running through my hair. "You are so beautiful Al. I'm so blessed that you're mine." He said. He had been saying things like this all day, not that I'm complaining. I loved it, but it was still kind of odd coming from Alec.  Ruby was practically purring with content. I could tell that Rueben, Alec's wolf was too. "I'm blessed too. Truly grateful." I said. "It would have killed me to see  you mated to someone else. I mean, I would have had a mate out there, but there will always be a special place in my heart for you." He told me. I just smiled at his words. "You know...." "What?" I asked. "I really only came back because I knew it was your birthday. I loved it there Britain. The people are really nice." He said. "Really, for me?" I asked. It was unbelievable. "Yeah. I told you. I had always felt something for you. And now I know what it was." He said, snuggling into my neck planting soft kisses there. 

Alec and I had shifted to my old bedroom. He was snoozing adorably on my bed. I got up and went to the bathroom and decided to call Callie. "Hello?" "Hey Cal." "Alli! Where have you been all day?" She asked. "Um, thats kinda what I need to talk to you about. Can we meet up tomorrow?" I asked. "Sure. Also, have you spoken to Ethan? I tried to call him but it went straight to voicemail." "Uh, lets just meet up okay?" Sure." "Bye." As soon as I hung up tan muscular arms wrapped around me. "You left me." He said. I turned around to see his pouting face. It was ridiculously adorable. I grabbed his cheeks and pulled him in for a quick kiss. "I'm sorry, I had to make a phone call." "Is everything okay?" I just nodded my head. "Good." Then he swooped down, for a longer kiss. 

"So how'd you get here? I didn't here a car pull up." I said. We were cuddling on the couch. "Um, I rode me bike. My car isn't here yet. It's being shipped from overseas." He said. "Oh, well can I give you a ride home?" "Haha, you can give me ride anytime." He said. I nudged him with my shoulder, cheeks blazing. "No, in all seriousness, that'd be awesome." He said. His cheeks were tinted too. "So, are you planning on moving in here?" He asked. "I was, but maybe not just yet. I don't want to leave my grandma. And.... I don't want to clean my parents room." I got choked up and couldn't speak. He pulled my over and patted my back. "It's okay to cry Alaria. They were- are your parents. You loved them, its hard. I wish I could've been here for you when it happened." I let the tears roll. The last time I cried was in solitued four years ago when it first happened. 

I woke up a little bit later. Disoriented. I didn't know where I was at first. "Hey sleepyhead." A familiar voice said. "Hey." I looked out around us and notice the light had gone. "Shit!" I said sitting up so fast I got a headache. "Argghh." "Al? Are you okay?"  Alec said, rushing to my side. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just sat up too fast." I checked my watch, it said 10:27pm. "I guess you'll be wanting to get home?" I said. "I want to be anywhere you are baby." He said. "Well, neither of us have eaten in hours." I said. "Yeah, its too bad you don't have any food here." "Well, nobody has lived here for four years." I said. "Well, how about we go get some food and then spend the night here?" He suggested. "Where are we getting food from Alec?" "Um, I don't really know. Where do you wanna go?"  He asked. "Alec" I said with a stoic face on. "How long have you known me?" "A while" He answered. "Right, so then you would know not to ever ask me what I want to eat. How about, you take the car and surprise me?" I said. He growled at that. "Sorry. Its just uh, Rueben doesn't want to leave you here alone and unprotected." He said. "Fine then I'll go." "I love you baby." He said. I froze at his words. I didn't know he felt that way yet. "Its okay if you don't say it back yet. I just want to let you know that I love you. I have since we were kids" 

When we arrived back at the house, snacks and food in hand, it was past 12. "Ah, that was a good time." Alec said, slumping on the couch. "Yeah. Those ladies got into a fight over school supplies. At 12am!" I said. "Here, your food's in here." He said, handing me a McDonalds bag. I took my food out, 3 mcChickens and 3 double cheeseburgers with a large fry. I took 2 packs of fruit snacks out of the box. "Hey! Those are mine." Alec whined. "Too bad so sad. What's yours is mine baby." "Oh, well in that case." He reached over for a fry. "And whats mine, is mine." I said, snatching them away and sticking my tongue out. "You want to play a game?" I asked. "What kind of game?" "Um, I don't know. I'm sure we have some lying around here in a closet somewhere." I said. "I'll go find them." "Do you need some help?" He asked. "No, I'll find them." I said.

I rummaged around on the second floor looking for a game. I could have sworn we had some here. I could feel Ruby getting antsy again, she didn't like being away from her mate for long. I was so intent on finding a game, I didn't feel when Alec came up behind me. "Come on babe, lets go to bed. We can play a game there." He said with a twinkle in his eye. "Alec." I said sternly. "I know, I know. But lets just go. You've got to meet Callie tomorrow right?" He said. I did. So I followed him to bed. We didn't do anything except talk about our childhood. And when the time for talking was done, we just rolled on our sides. I snuggled into his chest, and while he held me there in a cacoon of muscles and love, I drifted away.
