"Hey Charlie?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you want some French vanilla?" she asked.
"Why are you drinking a hot beverage in the summer?" he asked confused.
She shrugged. "Dunno."
He rolled his eyes and reached across to take the cup from her. He gulped half of it in one go.
"Hey! Don't drink all of it, you git!" She tried to grab it from his hand but he pulled it away from her reach making her accidentally fall on his chest. She lay still for a minute, her ear against the erratic beating of his heart.
"Charlie," she started.
He shushed her. "Relax." So she did and they laid their together on the soft green grass, which was there hideout. And slowly, she dozed off to the sound of Charlie slurping the French vanilla, the steady breathing of him and the thumping of his heart against her ear.
