What if?

This poem is inspired by my favorite band Owl City. I write a lot of my music to music and I like Owl City because it's a poem all it's own.

Today I looked at the sky and sighed

For I was wondering, "What if?"

What if fireflies taught you how to dance?

What if the sky was shades of purple and blue?

What if the world spins slowly?

What if home was a box car?

What if there was a skydiver above the islands of beautiful Hawaii

Who sang praises of another world?

What if we had rainbow veins

Whenever the weather decided to rain?

What if birds and worms sang love songs?

What if dreams didn't turn to dust?

Then reality wold be beautiful

But I wouldn't want to live there.

Because angles would be all around,

I would always cherish my west coast friendships,

As I golf on the moon,

Play tennis on the sun.

I would never come home,

For I would be to busy

Admiring the alligator sky

From my hot air balloon.

So I wonder, "What if? What if?"

But sadly reality draws me in

Forbidding me to take to the sky.

But I do not loose hope

For even now I am under the vanilla twilight sky

And I know there are many galaxies

And I will find the one for me

Because I am a citizen of Owl City

Lost in the technicolor phase.
