Safe and sound by morning light

If only I survive the night

Explosions rattle every wall

I can't look back or else I'll fall

Screams of children big and small

Death comes for them all

For all are equal in his eyes

Bit sadly it's never a surprise.

Hoping, praying to be ok

And that you'll live another day.

"Mercy! Mercy!" I hear someone cry

But my eyes remain dry.

I can't shut out the awful sounds

So my imagination knows no bounds.

Then I hear a small twig snap

Time to run and not look back.
