There are many ways you can use a smoke texture or smoke itself, here are some of my way I use it. Other than these if you have anymore ways, please comment them down below as I would love to learn new ones. The rest ones will be coming up in the further chapters.
01: Png smoke
This is the basic one, basically go to google and search smoke png and download it. Here are some useful ones I have found because usually those smoke pngs aren't pngs lol.

Step 1: Just directly add the png to your cover. Most of the times the smoke is black like above but you want a white one, the way to turn white is to click on image - adjustments and then click on invert.
