*After the Giant War*

Percy smiled this was set to be a great day. Just him, Annabeth, Nico and Will on the beach, ready for a day in the sun. Well, he, Annabeth and Will were. Nico wasn't too hyped, but Will and Percy had basically dragged him along.

Piper had lent them her cornucopia, so they had lunch taken care of, too, which was awesome, although she had warned them to be careful--thinking too hard about a food would cause a mountain of said food to pile up. (Of course, Percy didn't see how that could be a bad thing where cheeseburgers and his mom's cookies were concerned. Anyway...)

The four teens spread out their towels and lounged around for a while, enjoying the beach while it was still relatively uncrowded. Later, they raced each other to the water and had a chicken fight, Percabeth versus Solangelo. After the son of Poseidon used the water to sweep Will off his feet, and Nico blinded Percy and Annabeth with shadows, the four headed back to their spot on the beach, and Annabeth served up lunch.

After eating, Will and Nico started discussing Camp Jupiter, Annabeth pulled out a book, and Percy walked over to a beach kiosk to buy some sunglasses. When he returned, however, he found Nico and Will rolling around helplessly, laughing, while Annabeth looked slightly annoyed.

"What'd I miss?" Percy ask, flopping down beside her.

"Well," Will giggled, "while you were gone, this off-duty lifeguard came by, and he started to... to... he..." He couldn't finish, so Nico tried to speak up.

"The guy, he started... saying... he..."

Finally, Percy looked at Annabeth, who rolled her eyes, whether at Will and Nico or the mystery lifeguard guy, Percy wasn't sure.

"This jerk walked up and started hitting on me," she explained. "He was trying out all these cheesy pick-up lines, like 'on a scale of one to ten, you're a nine and I'm the one you needd', or--"

"Or, 'do you mind if I follow you home? My mother taught me to always follow my dreams'!" Nico broke in, gasping for air. He tries--and failed-- to get up, falling back against Will.

"Well, he was being annoying," Annabeth continues, propping herself up on her elbow, "so I told him I have a boyfriend. He just said "and I have a lot of math tests in school. Looks like we both have things we can cheat on"."

"And then?" Percy asked, smiling slightly and leaning forward. Whatever Annabeth had said, he knew it was going to be good. It was Will who spoke next.

"And then, Annabeth said 'It's a shame you can't cheat on the 'chance with me' test, you might have gotten a passing grade.' It was hilarious! And she said it all without looking up from her book! He just looked stunned and stood there for a while, and then, without looking up from her book, Annabeth says 'are you still here? Because I'm not going to wipe your tears away, if that's what you're looking for.' And then she just flips the page and continues reading! And then the lifeguard guy just kinda backpedals and walks away really fast. Your girlfriend is a scream!"

"Well, what else was I supposed to do? Let him stand there and stare at me like some creep?" Annabeth questioned, staring at Will oddly, who has snorting and giggling in turns, seemingly unable to stop.

Percy just threw back his head and laughed. "That's my Wise Girl," he said, kissing her temple and smiling.

Hey, an update! I thought they were going extinct for a while--pretty scarce around here. But a couple have been spotted hanging around! #Protecttheupdates #Bugauthorstoupdate #endangeredspecies

Formal translation: I recognize that I haven't updated in a while, and I have taken measures to prevent such horrible events from happening again (for a while).

Translation for idiots like me: WHOOOO MORE STORY LOTS OF WORDS MORE STORY WOOHOO!

(I don't think any of you are idiots, I just think I'm one.)

The picture of Annabeth is by an artist called Burdge (did I spell that right?), but I don't know who made the edit it's a part of, sorry.

Please tell me what you think! As I'm typing this up I realize just how bad I am at beginnings. And endings. Middles, fine, but start and finish; run and hide.

Hey, that rhymed! I'm a poet now.

Thank you for being patient while I sat around being lazy and not updating!
