[28] – Reprieve
The girl looked at the boy.
"I'm still a stranger
So I'm in no position to judge
Whether you are as horrible as you say
Or whether you are worth much more.
All I know is that I'm a stranger
Which means in my eyes
You are still completely innocent.
I also know that I'm currently in the position
To rescue and reprieve.
I won't be the light at the end of the tunnel
But I'll be the one holding your hand
All the way until the end.
I'm a complete stranger
Which means that you can be as open as you want
Because one day I may disappear
And nothing will change
For either you or me.
It's the magic within strangers
Where you have strong mutual trust
Only because one day
They might vanish
And it won't impact anyone's life at all.
If the world was a book
And pages were people
I promise you that even with all your ink smudges
And coffee stains,
With all your folded corners
And tea tinted edges,
I will be there to read your story
Word for word
Until the very last
Paragraph. "
