Chapter Seventeen: "Are you ready?" "No."

Brianna's POV

I don't really know anything about parties. Aside from the the fact there is normally alcoholic drinks, teens getting wasted beyond belief, and doing something that they'll regret the next day.

So, I am semi-clueless of what to wear to this party. I don't own any dresses. Even if I did, you wouldn't catch me wearing it. I only own jeans, shorts, and t-shirts.

Jeremy has probably been to a party before. Maybe he knows what I could wear? Times like these I wish I had a girl-friend. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and texted him.

To: Jeremy
Hi Jeremy! I was wondering, what should I wear? I don't own any dresses btw...

A few seconds later, my phone buzzed

From: Jeremy
Hey Brianna! Just... wear your best jeans, shirt, and converse. Do whatever you like with your hair. Okay?

To: Jeremy
Thank you so much :)

From: Jeremy
You're welcome! I'll be there to pick you up at 7:30PM. Sound good?

To: Jeremy
Yep! See ya then

I tossed my phone onto my bed, and walked back to my open closet. I pushed through my rack of clothes, and picked out a pair of white studded, ripped jeggings, and black shirt with quarter length sleeves and a white piece sign on it.

I quickly stripped off my current clothes, and changed into the other ones. I went into my bathroom, and plugged in my hair curler. I applied a thin line of black eyeliner under my hazel eyes, added some mascara to my eyelashes, and wiped some clear lip gloss over my lips, making them shine. I put my makeup away, and tended to my hair. I picked up a strand at a time, trying to perfectly curl each and every one.

Once I was done, I unplugged it, and went back into my room to put on my black converse, and I made sure my cuts weren't showing, along with the help with some bracelets I put on. I stood in front of my full length mirror.

I will admit, I didn't feel as self conscious as I normally do. I actually feel... pretty. If putting on some flashy clothes, putting on a little bit of makeup, and doing something with my hair makes me more confident, maybe I should do it more often.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed on my bed. I picked it up, and Jeremy's name flashed across the screen.

From: Jeremy
I'm outside your door. Should I knock, come in or...?

To: Jeremy
Just come in. Dad isn't home. I'll be down in a sec.

From: Jeremy
Okay chief :P

I chuckled, and shoved my phone in my pocket. I made sure my hair was placed nicely, and my makeup was perfect before I exited my room, and down the steps. Jeremy stood by the door, aimlessly looking around.

"Hey, Jeremy." I said.

His attention snapped towards me, "Hi, Br-" He stopped, his mouth hanging open just a little bit. Do I have something on my face or something?

"Is there something wrong?" I asked quirking an eyebrow.

"No, no, no. You just look... different. A good different." He grinned, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

He was wearing a black t-shirt with light wash jeans that were slung low on his hips, a pair of white converse, and his brown hair was swept to the side. He looked pretty good.

A blush made its way onto my cheeks, and I tried my hardest to cover it up, "T-thanks."

"You're welcome." He smiled, "Ready?"

"No." I sighed, suddenly nervous. What if I do something really embarrassing? Or if someone starts bullying me? Or worse, what if Meagan is there?

"It'll be okay, Brianna." He said, placing his hands on my shoulders, and staring me right in the eyes, "Deep breaths."

I inhaled and exhaled as steadily as I could, attempting to calm myself down.

"You okay?"

"I will be." I nodded. He smiled before kissing me on the forehead, and grabbing my hand, pulling me out of my door. There goes that darn blush again.

Jeremy was driving the same car that he had driven when we hung out the other day. A Toyota Camry. He opened up the passenger side door for me, and I got in and buckled myself. Jeremy slammed my door, and walked to his side, and opened and shut his door. He buckled himself in before starting the car, and pulling out of my driveway.

After driving to the other side of town, which took about forty minutes, we finally arrived at the party. It was a nice sized house. It was definitely bigger than mine and Jeremy's house. You could tell Dakota's parents were loaded.

I could see people standing outside with red cups in their hands, and a few people walking into the house. Dakota must know a lot of people.

"Ready?"

I just wanted to get this over with.

"Yeah. I'm going to do this sooner or later."
