Chapter 15: The Bus

A/N: Sorry for being late. I know it's half term for me but for some reason I've had less time to do anything. Recently I've been to visit my aunts and cousins as well as still going to kumon. Kumon is an like an out of school extra maths and english club. Anyways I will try to stick to a one week update sort of thing. I'll try to update with the maximum days of being two weeks and the minimum of one week. Also I'm working on something else that you guys might like. Without further ado here is the chapter.

"I can't believe you forgot the school trip today?" Laughed Terezi as she sat next to the window. Karkat blushed as he followed suit. The bus rumbled quietly as the driver turned it on. They sat nearer to the front much to Karkat's relief. The back row was always occupied with the popular kids. He was glad he wouldn't be seeing Vriska or Dave.

"I was pretty preoccupied during the weekend" He replied. It felt weird sitting next to her. He couldn't help the swarm of butterflies fluttering around his stomach. Her hair smelt of cherries for some strange reason. GC had always told him he smelt of cherries but he didn't know how to feel knowing she loved the scent that much. 

"What were you doing besides practicing with Tula? Going perfume shopping with Kanaya again?" She teased while interrupting his thoughts. He mentally wanted to face palm while being reminded of that embrassing incident.

"N-no for your information I was playing Sburb" He looked away from her as she grinned. "Anyway what were you doing during the weekend?"

"Me? Well I was also playing Sburb. I was doing something with a friend" Karkat immediately turned his attention back to her.

"Who was your friend?" He asked trying to be subtle.

"He's someone I've known for a long time" Terezi blushed remembering what had happened. Hopefully she would be able to do that again sometime.

"Oh well what do you think of him?" Karkat couldn't help prying. This was his chance to find out what Terezi really thought of him.

"He's a nice guy if that's what your asking" What?! What does she mean just nice?! "Why do you want to know anyways?"

"Just curious." he shrugged.

"Also Latula wanted me to tell you that you're invited to a sleepover at Kanaya's house"

"What?!" He yelled in surprise.

She looked at him while tilting her head. "You're not scared are you?"

"No why the hell would I. I've just...never went to one before"

"Wow they weren't kidding when they said you were anti-social"

He couldn't help but glare. "What do you mean?! Who's they?"

Terezi sighed. "Mostly Vriska. I was just joking. Vriska does talk a lot about you though. Honestly I'm glad she's not here. Don't tell her I said that!" She quickly spoke. She swivelled her head around as if looking for anyone else who could have heard. Karkat softened slightly. He felt a bit guilty for being so quick to judge. I guess everyone is being slowly brainwashed by Vriska with her lies.

"I won't tell Vriska. She isn't exactly a friend to me"

Terezi nodded but paused realising Karkat had his right hand over her left. There was an awkward pause between the two. Karkat didn't seem to notice why she was being quiet.

"Um...so I know you asked me to forget but why did you do that in the med bay?"

"What?" She said jolting alert.

"Well I can't exactly ignore the fact that yo-mmph!" He was interrupted when Terezi placed her hand on his lips. They were warm and soft but that wasn't the point.

"You can't just go around saying that" she whispered harshly. Though he knew he was getting scolded she looked adorable angry. Her cheeks flared up in embarrassment and they seemed to puff out in a pout. It was like aggravating a small puppy. A small puppy who had tripped over its own feet. He couldn't help but laugh quietly.

"What's so funny?" She muttered narrowing her eyes.

"Sorry it's just...I think you're cuter when you're angry" He whispered back. Due to his immense knowledge of Romcoms it was safe to say that this was a compliment that no one could screw up. Not even Karkat himself. He smiled when she looked taken back at the sudden compliment.

"I-I'm not cute" she turned away from him. Her cheeks stayed a permeant cherry red. "Oh look we're already here!" She blurted out.

"What? Already?!" He had hoped to keep on flirting with her. Maybe they would end up like in a Romcom. He looked around confused. The bus was still moving. Blurred houses swept by the windows. It felt like they were in their own small world. He was interrupted when Terezi started laughing.

"That's what it will sound like when someone sees it!" She waved her hand over her eyes. A big grin was plastered over her face. Karkat rolled his eyes at the trick but couldn't help grinning with her.

"You know you're laughing inside Karkles" she poked him in the ribs. Fortunately for her she had touched him in the weak spot. Not even a second later they were having a fully fledged tickled battle with Terezi somehow winning.

"Mercy mercy!" Karkat yelled in between gasps.

"Nooooo" she said in the most adorable voice.

"Children!" A booming voice echoed across the bus leaving everyone quiet. The two laughing pair immediately stopped and straightened up. "Please behave or else you'll be sitting next to me" the teacher looked directly at the two. They were only a few rows in front and Karkat flushed red wondering how much they had heard. In a more teasing manner the teacher said "If you're going to be a cute couple then go get a room". Before the teacher sat down again they winked at Karkat.

Both Karkat and Terezi turned away with the words 'Cute couple' chanting in their heads. By now most of the students were watching them. Including a certain student in the back row.  Boy this was going to be an interesting school trip.
