The events between Miss Gray's class and dismissal were pretty much a cycle of a few achievements and boredom. I scored a few points from a pop quiz, which I nailed, and Tom actually got over his sadness from detention because of what I said, and he's excited for him to be dismissed from detention.

I waited for Tom in front of his locker, hoping that he won't get lonelier. I was very impatient, knowing that what I said somehow sounded like a date with Tom. Alas, it isn't. It's just Guy Pal Bonding time, which is very normal for us. But every time we do it, I feel a tingle up my spine, since bonding with him gives me a chance to be ahead of the competition.

"AVE!" Tom calls out, and then I realize how happy I become when he shouts out my name. Though it's ridiculous. "Hey! Hurry up!" I call out. He finally reaches me, wheezing for air. "Come on, Ave! I'm excited for this!" he says enthusiastically.

We walked to the local pizza parlor named "The Slicery" just around the corner. We talked about a bunch of random stuff, each asking a weird question one at a time. "My turn! Would you wear your pants as a top?"he asks, and quickly laughs. "Depends. I'll do it when I needed to." I answer, then I join Tom in laughing. A few people stare at us, but we completely ignore them. "Ok, ok. My turn. Do you like PENGUINS?" I ask, hoping that he'll remember that day HE asked me the same question. "HEY! Don't copy me! I asked that when we were in 3rd grade." he replies, and I smile. He remembers it.  "I thought you already forgot it." I say as I look into his deep green eyes. "How could I forget that? It's the question that led me to you. And asking that question was not a mistake." he says as he slowly smiles. I blush, again. Honestly, I don't know if Tom says things like that on purpose.

After that, we walked home. Since Tom's house is a few houses away from ours, he walks me home everyday, which is another reason why his admirers envy me. I am clearly one step ahead from them. "So, Ave. What's up?" he asks. I did not expect him to ask that. "What? Why the heck are you asking me that?" I ask. And answer, at the same time. "I dunno.  I was just curious why you were so silent. I hate it." he says. "Why?" I say. " 'Cuz  it's so awkward." he answers. "Why?" I ask, again, to annoy him. "Okay,Ave. Stop playing the "Why" game." he says. "Fine, Tom. Oh lookie here. We're at my house. Good riddens, Faulkner." I say. "Bye, Ave. Oh, and hey, about a while ago, I really had fun. Thanks, Ave. Let's do it again some time." he answers. "You're welcome. Yeah, let's do it again, but next time, you treat ME." I say. I laugh, and he joins in. "'Night, Ave." he says. "Night, Tom" I answer back.
