New Directions vs. Vocal Adrenaline vs. Chamber Singers (Nationals, Part 3)

The lights were dimmed at the start of the show the next night. The audience was confused; What is going on? they thought. Suddenly, a spotlight appeared, music started playing, and the audience saw Melissa, wearing a black dress similar to the outfits the New Directions girls wore at Nationals in 2011.

Melissa:
Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game
Too late for second guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It's time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes and leap 

Another spotlight shone on the other side of the stage, and people saw Katie Moriarty, the Chamber Singer's representative. She wore an outfit similar to Elphaba's first outfit in Wicked.

Katie:
It's time to try defying gravity
I think I'll try defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down

Amanda, being in Vocal Adrenaline, was next under the spotlight. Unlike the first two, Amanda went all out: she wore a homemade outfit that resembled Elphaba's in the second act.

Amanda:
I'm through accepting limits ‘cause someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change but till I try I'll never know
Too long I've been afraid of losing love, I guess I've lost
Well if that's love it comes at much too high a cost

Then the Witch herself, Idina Menzel, came out. She came out wearing a black strapless gown that looked like the pink one she wore when she performed the song at one of her concerts.

Idina:
I'd sooner buy defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye I'm defying gravity
I think I'll try defying gravity
And you can't pull me down

The four then walked to the center of the stage as they sang the bridge.

Melissa:
Unlimited

Katie:
Our future is unlimited

Amanda:
And I just had a vision almost like a prophecy
I know it sounds truly crazy

Idina (with Katie):
And true, the vision's hazy
But I swear, someday I'll be (flying so high)

Melissa and Amanda:
Kiss me goodbye

All:
So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky

Melissa:
As someone told me lately

Katie:
Everyone deserves a chance to fly!

Amanda:
And if I’m flying solo

Idina:
At least I’m flying free

All;
To those who ground me
Take a message back from me…

Tell them how I am defying gravity
I'm flying high defying gravity

Melissa:
And soon I’ll match them in renown

Katie:
And nobody

Amanda:
In all of Oz

Idina:
No Wizard that there is or was

All:
Is ever gonna bring me down

Melissa:
Aahh!
