Reject's POV

"No." I scooted backwards in my hospital bed, "I don't want them to do that."

"Rae, you have to trust them." Ashton said, "They're the doctors.  They want to help you."

I gave the nurse a wary glance.  She was supposed to take my blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and some actual blood.  But I still didn't trust her.  I didn't like how she was looking at me.  I could feel her eyes all over me, examining me.  I hate it.

"I don't want to." I said stubbornly.

"What if I took the boy's temperature and blood pressure?" The nurse suggested, "That way you can see that there's nothing to be afraid of."

"That's a great idea!" Ashton praised her.  "We're not afraid, Rae.  And neither should you.  It's gonna be okay."

"Open your mouth." The nurse instructed Michael, "I'm going to take your temperature."

Michael obeyed and she stuck a small plastic rod in his mouth.

"Now keep it there for 2 minutes or until it beeps."

She took Calum's blood pressure next.  A large band was put around his arm and as she squeezed a balloon thing, it would inflate.

"Psst, Rae.  Look at this."  Michael crossed his eyes and scrunched up his face.  I couldn't help but giggle.  He always knew how to make me laugh.

"Mr. Clifford, if you can't keep still, then we can't get an accurate temperature." The nurse reminded him and removed the band thing from Calum's arm.

"Yes Ma'am." Michael mumbled.

After taking Luke's pulse, it was time to take a little bit of blood.  She quickly wiped Ashton's arm with rubbing alcohol and then got out the needles.  I squirmed uncomfortably.  Needles make me nervous.

"I'm just going to take a little bit of his blood," The nurse explained, "There's going to be a bit of a pinch, but nothing more than that."  She quickly put the needle in his arm, waited until it was about half full with red liquid, then took it out and placed a band-aid over the mark.

"Did that hurt, Mr. Irwin?"

Ashton shook his head, "Only for a second.  See Rae, you can do it.  All of us just did it."

I was okay with getting my temperature and pulse, that wasn't all that scary to me.  But the rest of it was a different story.  As soon as the nurse put the blood pressure band on my wrist a knot of worry started to form in my stomach.  I hated the tight feeling around my arm.  It felt like the life was squeezing out of me.

"Rae, it would probably help if you breathed." Calum piped up.  I exhaled deeply.  I hadn't even noticed that I was holding my breath.  Soon enough, the blood pressure was done and the nurse took that horrid band off my arm.  I watched the nurse take a new needle from the tray next to my bed.

She's going to inject you with something

I eyed it suspiciously.  I still didn't trust her or her intentions.

"I'm just taking a little bit of blood," She explained, "It's really not much.  Mr. Irwin did it and he was fine."

"Yeah, it doesn't hurt except for a pinch." Ashton assured me, "You'll be okay.  I promise."

"Rae, are you ready?" The nurse asked me.

"Yes." I help my arm out and prepared myself.  She quickly dabbed my arm and then stuck the needle in.  I couldn't help but letting out a small whimper.  It hurt.

See, look at that.  She just drugged you.  You're going to pass out and they will experiment.

I gritted my teeth and tried to ignore the voice.  She didn't drug me.  If there were drugs in that needle, than why didn't Ashton get drugged too?  She's just taking blood.  That's all.  The nurse took the needle out and put a band aid over my arm.

"See?" She said, "It wasn't that bad."

The nurse organized her things on her tray and wrote a few things down, "That's all I'll be needing from you guys today.  The doctor should come in a few minutes to talk to you about getting Rae into the psychiatric hospital."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The mental hospital was scary.  It was big, really big.

They've brought you here so they can preform experiments on you.  The hospital was just making sure that you're ready for it.  This is the place where they're going to actually do it.

"Are you guys going to stay with me?" I asked Michael.

He shook his head, "No not really.  We're going to visit when we can, but you're mostly going to be by here by yourself."

That sounded terrifying.  I'm going to be here by myself with none of the people I trusted.  At least when I was at the hospital they were there right beside me.

I'm going to be alone.

This is the perfect opportunity for experiments.  The boys are going to be gone and it's just you

I stopped walking.  They're right.  It's perfect.  The doctors can do whatever they want to me now.

"Rae?  Are you alright?"

I looked around me.  I didn't like my surroundings.  The urge to run was getting stronger and stronger.

Yes, run.  Run away.  If you run you'll never have to deal with any of this ever again

"Rae?" Michael bent down so he could be at my eye level, "You gotta keep walking."

"No." I said stubbornly.  Maybe if I refuse to move then they won't make me go.  If they do make me, then I'll run.

"I know you're scared," Michael said softly, "But you have to do this, okay?  The people in there will help you.  You'll be safe there.  Think of all the other kids that have been here.  They're getting better, just like you will.  C'mon Rae, you gotta be brave and do it.  Ignore those voices.  They aren't real like we are."

Michael doesn't understand.  They're real but he just can't hear it.  If They aren't real, then why have They been here for so long?  They have to be real.
