there was a symphony of white playing on outside.
it was the first time these
broken roads and overgrown grass
were feeling the icy kiss
of white snowflakes.
they fluttered and danced in the air,
unwilling,
but in the end relenting,
and allowing themselves to fall to the ground.
like a star struck from its rightful throne
in the sky.
gathering, gathering,
embracing each other -
showering the world with kisses of unmoving loveliness.
until a veil of white silence
was draped over every tree, every roof, every road.
i stepped out
(crunch)
and felt my boots sinking
into the snow for
the first time.
the first footprint,
soon to be covered by
a million others -
insignificant as every footprint is
in this world.
i closed my eyes to taste the snow,
and felt it kiss my hair.
