i said, look out the window and see the way everyone is laughing.
even though nobody was,
but you caught my meaning.
and you laughed and that made me smile
and the sun seemed a bit brighter.
we raced down the uneven street,
wild as children should be;
my hair flew behind me,
shorter than i liked,
and i struggled to keep up with you.
we screamed in laughter, in pure unadulterated joy.
with one brushstroke the clouds drifted over the sun.
i was the princess in the tower
while you valiantly slayed
the dragon.
and we kissed and lived happily ever after,
until a rainbow appeared just down the road
and we raced to see it,
forgetting to lock the castle door
behind us.
the demons came then,
and we were forced apart
after that.
i say, look out the window and see the way everyone is laughing.
and everyone is,
but you aren't.
