Chapter 15:

Rosa's POV

I dragged my feet slowly across the marble floor in the kitchen in a circle before I grabbed two spoons, two tubs of Ben and Jerry's brownie batter ice cream. Heading towards the living room I popped in the Last Song, sinking down into the soft leather seat and I buried myself into the ice cream. I have avoided going to school for a week now, not wanting to see Jake's face knowing I would break into tears if I ever saw him. Although, I was really glad that I got Christy out of this because she is actually a really nice person and that she never was actually who I thought she was, she is a great friend to have she came to my house every day after school and gave me the homework I missed as well as an update on what’s going in school. Sometimes she would stay for dinner and we would make soups and sandwiches while watching movies. Christy doesn't talk about Jake, which I am really grateful for considering that she knows I am still really sensitive on the subject. I heard my doorbell ring, getting up I opened the door to a smiling Christy, her blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, clothed in a sweatshirt, sweatpants and flip flops.

"Hey! Come on in!"

"Thanks! I brought the homework for today! So are you going back to school on Monday?" Christy asked tentatively as she sat down next to me, grabbing one of the spoons and eating the ice cream with me.

"I'm not sure yet, I was thinking about skipping but..."

"Rosa, I think you should go back."

"Yeah, I know but it just hurts so much to see him!"

"I know it does but trust me it gets better and he was a loser for leaving you! You are perfect and you will found someone! You just have to get back out there!"

"You really think so?"

"I know so! Now come on don't we have a movie to watch and homework to do?" I giggled at Christy's determination to make me forget about Jake with homework and a movie. I grabbed the homework, opened my pink notebook and started answering the questions. I didn't want to admit it but I knew Christy was right, I would find someone else and Jake wasn't worth having if he cheated on me like that. I have to believe in myself and that is going to start with me going back to school after the weekend.

"Bye! See you on Monday!" Christy yelled as she walked down the driveway to her car. We ended up watching two more movies, "The Notebook" and "Princess Diaries" before Christy mentioned that she needed to go home. I closed the door and trudged down the hallway back to the kitchen to make my dinner. Turning up the radio while I started making my fried chicken, I heard Kellie Pickler's song "Best Days of Your Life".

"....Ain't sad you can't forget about what we had

Take a look at her and do you like what you see?

Or do you wish it was me?

I'll be there in the back of your mind

From the day we met to the very last night

And it's just too bad you've already had the best days

The best days of your life!"
