Miss You

You don’t miss what you have until it’s gone

The stealing dawn, the setting sun

Each day that passes I miss you more

Since you turned your back and closed the door.

The smile on your face, the kindly word

Best sound of laughter never heard.

I never knew you, not like that

But now you’re gone I want you back.

You made me laugh, you made me cry

You never stopped to ask me why.

Some friends come and some friends go

But always in my heart I’ll know

That I love you for who you are

Not the pretence and definitely not the star

From now until the end

A stranger and my friend.
