If Parker had just answered my texts, we wouldn't be in this situation right now.

"Lee Adams, do you know how serious of an offense this is?" Principal Wright asked me.

I didn't answer.

"This is grounds for expulsion."

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

If they expelled every kid that they caught trying to sneak off of Jefferson Lake property, they'd need to recruit an entire new student population.

"We're going to have to call Parker in on this."

"Good luck," I stated.

He raised his eyebrows at me.

"Where do you think that I was going?" I challenged. "I haven't heard from Parker since Saturday. All I wanted to do was go and see him."

"Maybe he's just busy Lee," Assistant Principal McKinley offered.

"You don't know Parker," I muttered, leaning back in my seat. "But please, be my guest. Call him."

And they did.

And he didn't answer.

"Well until he comes down to the school, you'll be placed on Watch," Principal Wright informed me.

"Fine."

Watch was where you couldn't leave your room except for meals. Dylan downstairs would be informed, so I wasn't to leave the building.

So I could technically still leave my room.

"Ms. McKinley will escort you to your room now. This is a serious matter Lee, and I want you to reflect on it as so," Principal Wright informed me.

"Can you at least try and call Parker again?" I questioned, leaning forward in my seat.

"Lee, as we said, he's probably just busy."

"You don't know Parker. He never goes this long without contact."

"Lee, this way please," Ms. McKinley said.

They don't understand.

Parker is the only family that I have. And with both of my parents dead, I can't imagine something happening to him to.

I guess that makes me a hypocrite.

I followed after Ms. McKinley, listening as she informed Dylan of my Watch status and ignoring his disapproving glare towards me.

"What did you do?" Dylan asked me.

"Apparently something that I wasn't supposed to."

This earned a glare from Ms. McKinley.

"If you'll see to it that Lee is situated in his room," Ms. McKinley stated.

Dylan nodded, and she left.

I placed both of my palms on the desk, leaning forward. "Turn around."

"No."

"Dylan, turn around."

"Lee, I'm not losing my job over you."

"Dylan, I can't go upstairs."

"Why are you on Watch?"

"Because they caught me trying to sneak off campus," I dismissed. "It's my third offense, so I'm under review for expulsion."

"That's really serious Lee."

"In this moment, I really don't care if they call the fucking police on me. I have to go and find my brother. So I will get down on two knees and beg you if I have to, please turn around."
